What do people recommend? I’ve used RaceFace DH rings in the past – designed for SS/DH use without being a massively heavy plate. Their new ‘Single’ rings are lighter and cheaper whilst also rated for DH use (not sure what’s going on there).

    Any other suggestions?

I find the On-One stainless ones have lasted longest for me.

Blackspire; either Mono Veloce or DH. My last couple have been second hand DH off the classifieds for not a lot of money.

I get quite a lot of wear from Thorn ones. Not terribly trendy though, and no cut-out pockets.

If you’re looking for something a bit more custom for the business and don’t mind a bit of a wait, you could try HomeBrewed Components.

E13 guide ring – very light but wears quite quickly

Renthal – STIFF, light – long lasting (but $$$)

Another vote for Blackspire DH rings – had one on my rohloff P7 for 4 winters now and still OK.

My Thorn is 5 years old now and was reversed at 3 years.I only reversed it as I was changing the Rohloff sprocket and chain as a precaution.

Avdave – you beat me. Four years, I think. Switched it round at two. Still plenty of life left in it.
