So is a “winter” road bike just a road bike with mudguards ?
Or does it have two wheel drive, traction control and snow tyres

This thread definitely needs more slammage. Slammed winter steeds are where it’s at. Just started speccing mine today, think I’m gonna go for one of those £90 aluminium frames off ribble, although if there’s better out there let me know.

You have multiple road bikes, the cheapest one is the winter bike.

I’ve just received a Graham Weigh Cross bike – which is to be multi tasking between witner road training and cross racing.

The frame/fork and headset is £200. Not sure if the current exact spec is now on their website, but I’ve got one of the newer white ones, which has full guard/pannier mounts and comes with a seat clamp/rear brake hanger.

Really impressed with it out of the box, will report back with pics when built.

I thought it was the one with mudguards, and all the old summer stuff on it 🙂

I have a Alfine rear wheel ready to go and i had bought a Jtek bar end shifter off a guy on here but the PO have gone and lost the bloody thing 😡

I like the idea of a the alfine, it’s just the STI shifters (Versa) are £130!!

more than I’m willing to part with, especially if I don’t like it.

I think the addition of the triple chainset (bargain from Ribble a @£35) and the mudguards make the thing look like it weighs a ton!but it rides really well.

this is my commuter that gets used year round – I don’t change a thing between summer and winter but I am switching to 25s instead of the 23s that are on at the moment

Is there any real world difference (grip wise) between 23’s and 25’s.? I have 23’s on at the moment and have rode it in wet conditions and the grip was fine.

Having swapped some 23mm gatorskins for 25mm a couple of months ago I can’t say I noticed any change in grip or comfort really, but that could just be me. I’ve never had any qualms about running 23mm tyres all year round, my recent swap was only due to being able to get the 25mm’s at a bargain price.

    mudguards – check
    Single fixed – check
    Lights – check
    Real frame – check
    Puncture proof tyres – check.
    Yep, that’s a winter bike.
