Me and the missus are narrowing down our Trans Provence bikes to Mojo HD’s after a couple of test rides over that last few weeks.

Would be interested in seeing some current builds and also ask the question for myself of what size did you go for? I’m 5’9 and have a Meer Kat type back but with relatively short legs. Ibis say I should be on a large but am close to a medium also. Presently on an 18″ Alpine 160 which is a good fit.

Any thoughts from those who have taken the plunge?

    All the best,
    Lee.

5’9, short legs on a medium. Feels about right 🙂

Tried a mates medium and it felt only a touch too small and I’m 6ft. Can’t imagine someone at 5ft 9″ would want a large.

Here’s a couple we’ve built up for customers recently, the HD wi TI bolt kit and Sram XO came in at 27lb, the SL is 25lb.

As for your sizing? – I’d go for a large.

Building up a large HD wi full XTR kit and fox 34’s this week for a customer – over £6K worth of bike so i’ll post a pic when it’s up n’ running.

Yeah i know it’s not an HD, it’s an SL, demo’s are available on this bike.

Hey Somafunk, whats a fully XTR/34’d HD weigh in at? Seriously considering chopping my Zesty in for one! (The Lap’s great, just proving to be a bit too fragile)

We’re not entirely sure yet max?, i’ll post up a pic wi the weight showing on the scales for the usual doubters/bores on here when it’s complete. We’re Lapierre dealers as well and i can understand your concerns with regard to the fragility of the Zesty, is it a carbon frame?, keep a very close eye on your BB area.

EDIT : Having ridden both for extended periods of time the Mojo HD is the better bike, that’s not to say the Zesty is a bad bike per se, it is clearly not as it does everything so well but the HD just does it better and with a smile, better descending, much better at climbing, more stable at speed, lighter, the suspension just works all the time without you considering it until all you stop and realise all your mates are miles behind whether that be on the downhills, uphills or cross country.

    Cheers for all the replies!

This has given me a lot to think about. The reason I was pulling away from the medium is because my max stem length would be 70mm and I would be running 50mm for the Trans Provence. The last thing I want would to be cramped for long periods of time.

I am also aware that the large has a 19″ seat tube as opposed to a 17″ on the medium and this could effect standover, however if I’m running a Reverb anyway like on the Alpine then surely it will have less effect as if your on a 17 you will be showing more seatpost meaning you won’t be able to slam it as much or if your on a 19″ you will have less post showing and will get it down lower, albeit on a slightly larger frame. Or am I talking bollocks and showing a poor aptitude for basic maths……. 😉

At 5’9″ you def want the medium. Am 5’10.5″ and run a 50mm stem on mine.

Deffo medium. They do come up small though, like Turner’s.

Aye, medium for me at 5’8″ – i would say medium for you too. Get a demo organised.

I’m 6′ , short legs, long back, on a large with 70mm stem/725mm bars, and the bike can feel a touch short after a long pedally day- definitely try and get demos on both sizes.

Don’t discount the 140 either- it feels a bit lower, and to me, is a bit easier to manoeuvre in the tight slow stuff, though I’ve never gone back since building it up heavier.

Wow, great looking bike. I don’t do bike lust but that is one nice looking bike.

you need to consider the top tube length and what suits you (swoopy frames give more standover so seat tube is less relevant).

I’m 5’10” and I like top tubes around ~22.5″. I currently ride a 16″ Alpine 160 (22.5″ TT), used to ride a medium Mk.1 Nomad (same) and if/when I buy a Mojo I’ll get a medium. IIRC The medium and large Nomads had the same standover clearance as the top tube swooped down so much.

You need to demo both Medium and Large.

I’m 5.10; went with the Large as the medium felt too small and cramped.
