One terrorist confirmed as Syrian who passed through Greece as a registered refugee – AFP/Reuters/Sky

I thought they were just saying that the passport found on/near him belonged to someone who’d come through Greece. Are the authorities now saying that it’s the same person (passport wasn’t bought/stolen?).
JunkyardFree Member“The holder of the passport passed through the island of Leros on 3 October 2015, where he was identified according to EU rules,” said Nikos Toscas, Greece’s deputy minister in charge of policing.
A Greek police source told Reuters that European countries had been asked to check the passport holder to see if they had been registered.
While this heavily implies that one of the gunman came into Europe along with refugees, Syrian passports are known to be valuable currency amongst those trying to enter Europe, and it is not yet confirmed whether the holder of the passport is indeed the perpetrator.

Its possible what Jamby says is true but it is , as yet, not what is being reported .
jamj1974Full MemberSorry Chewk, in these threads I find a lot of your logic questionable.
BigEaredBikerFree MemberNo one feared the Irish accent much as they fear an Asian person or a person wearing a hijab.
Who here is actually scared of any of these people? No one I know or talk to is; is it just a perception we get spoon fed by some sections of the media that we are?
This perception that there is something to be feared probably makes some people fear it – useful if you want to sell papers or argue for increased surveillance powers.

I’m using the term as a example as to what people/media do and act and from what i have seen in everyday life. Before it was “F* Pak* go back to your own country” and now it is “Oi Taliban/ F* bomber/ bet she has a bomb under her veil” (they mean Hijab or burkha but these fools aint that bright)
You’ll see in my post that i noted that these new attacks will give far right groups more support and also attacks on innocent people will increase.
Inicedents of Asians and not so Asians have been reported, some even make it to the local paper (surprisingly not the main stream media).
I honestly do fear for the safety of people more so, after what has happend in france.

We’ll be better off if we arm bears…
mrsfryFree MemberBy saying ‘All British citizens’ does this include every race and sex? and only those on vacation/illegal/ waiting on there immigration hearing or just passing through on a destination to someplace else, don’t get any fire arms?
I have a feeling that, this idea won’t work.
jivehoneyjiveFree MemberDoes it include all ages?
Will babies be packing heat in their nappies?
Good for arms dealers and those concerned with overpopulation of the planet, though the resources used in production and distribution of weapons may be more detrimental than the population being removed.
mrsfryFree MemberMuslims Around the World Defend Themselves Against Islamophobia and Offer Solidarity
Every darn time somthing happens, Muslims have to defend themselves, but it never happens the other way around!?
It’s 2015 and people are still on the same hate band wagon of tarring everyone who isn’t like them with the same brush 🙁
No Muslim or group should have to defend themselves against idiots or risk the wrath of hysterical hate filled idiots.

Every darn time somthing happens, …There your clue as you just said it.
In the spirit of STW rationality – what do you mean by “something”?
What thing? Every darn time there is an earthquake? Accidents? Meteorite? What? Or are you referring to terrorists attacks? Who are the current world terrorists?
Crikey … George Takei … am watching Star Trek III – The search for Spock now on Dave.

, unlikely but not a million miles away from how I was feeling after Thursday night’s beer & curry epic 😳
Anyway, I have a feeling that things are going to escalate in the middle east quite quickly.
I work in London and get the train there every work day. From there I ride my Brompton to the office. Mrs Feet actually said today that she was very relieved that I don’t get the tube and she’d prefer me to play with the traffic than be down a hole. I’m fully expecting to see fully armed police at the London end of my train journey next week. I’m not sure if that makes me feel any safer or not, but I’ll still be going to work as normal.
These terrorists are just that terrorists. They are evil shitbag scum hellbent on satisfying their bloodlust using their religious ‘beliefs’ as an excuse to carry out their purely evil actions
gwaelodFree MemberFair play – Not many people would think “Firearms – thats what glasgow needs to go with all that alcohol and Temazepam”.

Though to be fair, every time there is a shooting spree in America then there are always a significant number of ‘lefties’ queuing up saying how the easy availability of assault weapons was to blame, while its clear that military calibres and automatic weapons as used in the two recent Paris massacres have been subject to draconian restrictions in France for many decades
horaFree MemberWhen the madrid bombings happened I lived in Croydon and commuted to Victoria. For 3 days after the bombings I had the train literally to myself. My own driving down to London today could potentially be more risky

The have been more shootings in the US in the past 48 hours than there were deaths in Paris – which of these would have been easier to stop?
jivehoneyjiveFree MemberWhat level of culpability do CIA and MI6 have after their role in aiding the rise of ISIS?
Are weapons and training still being covertly provided to factions which may have hostile intentions?
jambalayaFree Member@jive you should move to Egypt, they’ve been discussing on tv there how the Russian airliner was brought down by a combinations of the U.K., US and Israelis. Basically anyone except Islamist terrorists.
jivehoneyjiveFree MemberAre you suggesting Egyptian TV has an element of propaganda?
Wonder if the same could be said for any other parts of the world…

Bit more than an element of propaganda.
martinxyzFree MemberI’ve been reading stuff about it all weekend but gave up after reading this girls comment on the Angels of DM fb page:
‘how did they get in?? It was a sold-out show. Either they had tickets bought in advance, or got through security at the door? There must be CCT footage’
jambalayaFree MemberI imagine 3 guys with automatic weapons had no problem “getting through security”
The security staff at the Stade de France who denied entry to the suicide bomber shoot be commended. He blew himself up with just one other casualty. The other two there killed just themselves. It could have been much worse.
This is a bit off topic but over the weekend I read that Drones now have technology fitted which means they fake being a mobile telephone tower so phones connect to it and they can find out exactly where people are directly and immediately without having to reply on hacking the local networks. Terrorists are increasingly wise to this, one the Charlie Ebdo attacksrs was found to have 15 different mobiles on him or just using old fashioned paper communications
