    Please help my fuddled brain.

I have just bought from CRC a 203mm splined rotor SM RT79L
Weighs all in 207grams. Only cost me £11.00. which i believe is an XT rotor.

Just bought off STW a 2nd hand XTR Rotor 203mm SM RT97L this weighs in at 198g.

Question is why bother with XTR or am I missing something??

Two of those and that's 18g! Carrying that weight in chocolate would probably take you up the last 500' hill. – So which is it to be? 😆

Is that assuming that the CRC one is XT and not XTR, and the classifieds on in XTR and not XT.
Even if they were identical I suspect Shimano would still give them different product numbers, or they are identical and are sold as XT/XTR?

They are different products, the spider is different. However the weight difference is negligable.

And the moral of the story is "Don't weigh things!"

I actually ordered SMRT 78L from CRC, but for what ever reason I was sent a 79L. Which according to CRC website is 20.00 more expensive.

Then the second hand XTR one arrived and being curious weighed one against tother.

Seems a waste of money to go XTR if this is the case?
