??? mudguards. Why is it never simple?!

trying to fit some SKS Edge mudguards to my PX Tempest and the front mudguard lug is too short to reach up to the bolt hole.

I see SKS do an extension lug but its not available till December. Any ideas on how to fit the damn thing or is it just a case of tough luck?

On my Fargo I bought the long version of this https://www.condorcycles.com/products/pdw-front-hanger?fbclid=IwY2xjawGbQ6pleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHXDcZTj98mBFicqJWb-TqLSyZXm9i6KjG8GGEGDW-BKKDEPTF8RIznV6NA_aem_RBkGOBGmxrEnkrjFV5FIwg&variant=41987138257046 and drilled out the one supplied on the front mudguard and replaced it with this one using small bolts with thread lock.

I have a bodge – the threaded insert from a cycle shoe that takes a 5mm bolt, which I’ve popped a bolt through and into the fork thread.

Then I’ve used a further nut and bolt to secure the mudguard to the insert.

Hopefully these pics will show what I mean (also included rear as there’s loads of room to lose on those as well):IMG_6385IMG_6384IMG_6386

Thats what I was thinking I’d have to do. I’ve a 15mm standoff nut by the BB.

on the front I didnt really want to be drilling out. A bit OCD about the inevitable slippage and black guards ending up with silver stripe

The Edge rear brace is a vast improvement as it pivots for the under bolt mount.

I found a spare rear clip brace in ever growing pile of bits so i might try it on the front as a quick n easy fix. Looks like it should go under the fork crown theres so much clearance!

I’ve done similar things to BOAS until I can design and 3D print something more aesthetically pleasing in titanium.

There’s so much room at the fork i managed to use a rear brace for now. Fits under the crown and looks invisible at a cursory glance.

certainly aesthetically good enough for me for now.
