Sealskinz heated gloves -Anyone got aa review ?

Specifically the gauntlet rather than the glove, but whatever you have a review would be the same

They’re 1/3 off currently on the Sealskinz site and im tempted.

Couple of years ago I got my Sister a pair of their furry lined mittens, which she loves, and just picked up a pair of standard types for the nephew, but poor old me is still using leaky old gloves and in winter my fingers freeze. So maybe treat myself while they are on offer, though they’re a hell of a price.

No doubt like the rest of you, I’ve a good many gloves, though non are really that warm, the warmest being a 25 yr old set of Specialized neoprene lobster claws with Chiba lobster claw covers, and while reasonably warm, they aren’t waterproof, and the lobster design does make levers a bit trickier given you’ve only really 2 fingers round the bars.

So maybe a set of gloves and heated as most of my gloves at the end of a 30 mile round trip in February are pretty much inadequate.

If anyone has Sealskinz heated,, how are you getting on with them,. Pros and cons.

I’d prefer the gauntlet, as that goes over the sleeve so wind isnt whistling up there.

My boss a couple of jobs ago used them for skiing and rated them very highly. We certainly sold more than I ever thought we would.

I’ve had them a few years. Game changer for Winter rides for me. Even Briskers don’t cut it.

They’re a bit bulky obviously but don’t hinder my riding really. Batteries last well.

My lad uses them when we snowboard.

A mate swears by them for winter commuting

I was looking at them but was put off by the reports of the fingers not being heated, and poor fit.
I’m currently suffering what appears to be Stage 1 frostbite on 4 fingers due to a ride in the bloody Midlands with Raynaud’s a week and a half ago, so I’m desperately trying to find some that work!

The reviews on the Sealskinz website don’t appear that good. Seems the build quality isn’t that great and the element only heats the hand rather than extending to the fingers.

Tbf, Briskers aren’t exactly warm. Great for bar feel and with a little light insulation, but in no shape or form are they a proper winter glove. 

Outdoor Research do some heated gloves, though expensive. Far more credible outdoor technical equipment brand than Sealskinz. No idea how good they are, but I’ve used their non-heated gloves for ice climbing and they’re very good. Great fit, well designed, good build quality.

I bought a pair last winter and they are great in dry weather. The 100% waterproof claim is rubbish: The waterproof membrane is underneath the insulation layer so that In wet weather the stuffing soaks up water until each glove weighs about a kilo and they become useless.

 Should have realised when I read in the instructions that you shouldn’t turn on the heating when the gloves are wet.
