Got a compressor for my car, it’s schrader valved, metal sealed unit. Is there a bodge way of converting it to use on presta valves for going tubeless?

yes, loads – get a screw-on adaptor for your presta valve

    like this

oh, hang on – do you mean an electric car tyre “pump” ? May well not shift enough air for tubeless seating

    Yep. Thread ends.

Edit – that was to HS first point but the second point s also valid. Ho hum.

Got one of those adaptors but it doesn’t work?

Is it a proper compressor or an electric pump type? Does it have a nice big cylinder?

Just another example of how crap it is we’ve been lumbered with shitty presta for tubeless

So please explain how you’d get better flow with a Schrader valve ?
Remove the core from a presta and you have no restriction.

Just drill a slightly bigger hole in the rim and fit a Schrader tubeless valve (plenty available). The difference in hole size is tiny but you get a significantly larger orifice to force air through into your Tyre.

    Bigger valve, bigger hole.

But then I’ve never had problem with Presta for tubeless, just remove the valve core.

If you removed the core from a scrader then I’d agree but you can’t from most scrader inner tubes.
Or at least the ones I’ve seen.

Then again, I’ve never had a problem with presta with the valve cores intact.

Schrader tubeless valves have removable cores

I can’t remember ever having a schrader valve (tube or tubeless) with a fixed core

Every Presta tube / valve comes with an adapter in the packet..

Just use the Presta cap 😉

If it’s a car tyre inflator, it’s not much use for tubeless anyway, they don’t push enough air.

Sure you can. They unthread internally but you need a wee pokey tool.

all a bit academic for the OP if it’s just one of those 12v ‘pump your tyres up if you leave it for 20 minutes’ jobs – you tend to need a reservoir of air to get tubeless to seat, not continuous low rate flow.

Yeah – what you really need is a lemonade bottle!!!
