That war on motorists is working out well then. 18% chance that if you’re hit the driver will do a runner – likely becasue drunk/uninsured/unlicenced/banned/wanted by police for something else or just a ****

The punishment for driving without insurance needs to be severely punitive – maybe lifetime ban, then jail, and then repeat offense after jail leading to limb removal so it is not possible to drive…

And cyclists not have liability insurance is also an issue with many people.

It’s not necessary to remove limbs, just thumbs. 😈

Why do you think it’s a war ? If you make it one I’m sure there’s drivers who’ll happilly oblige !! Who wins then, you on your flimsy bicycle or them in their tonnes of steel ?

It needs to be a campaign against bad drivers which would get away from the “you are picking on me because I’m a motorist, what about those cyclists/horse riders/pedestrians?” style of whining.

It’s natural to be a coward and run away from harm you’ve caused. Lots of people do it in all kinds of different circumstances.

Unfortunately, being in a car makes it much easier to do this…. you’re shut away from the human being you’ve just hurt in a protective metal box, and you have a powerful motor at your feet which makes running away very easy…

CHAMPION Tasmanian cyclist Macey Stewart says she felt like “an object” after being knocked off her bike by a hit-run driver.

“The fact that he came back to get his mirror means he treated me as an object not a person,’’ Stewart said. “It was like he hit a wheelie bin, not a human being.’’
Thats right the driver stopped picked up their wing mirror and drove off while she was still on the ground.
