    🤢

lots of these “chocolate” bars were invented simply because they were cheap to make, but the great unwashed being what they are still lapped them up anyway despite actually tasting like 💩 😂 See also: Greggs

Cue (desired) social media outrage, increased ‘engagement’ for Nestle, and oh look they’re making an announcement to bring it back which brings a boost in sales, and those on social media thinking they’ve got a ‘win’ rather than being played in a marketing ploy.

I like them as does my mum, they’re a welcome alternative to normal chocolate but one bar is enough. Haven’t seen one for sale for years but found them in the local garden centre bizarrely last week, we both stocked up a few and glad we did now!

That reminds me, haven’t had a Wispa for a while.

I’m sure I’ve been getting adverts recently for a “new” caramel milk chocolate bar from one of the big companies this last week on some YouTube videos.

I really like Caramacs so a bit disappointed – although I don’t buy more than a couple a year.

It’s not really chocolate tasting – it’s just a sweet and creamy hit. But I’ve got the sweetest of sweet tooths.

Our cat can smell them from another room. Loves to sit and sniff the wrapper.

I used to eat them quite often as I have an intolerance ( gives me hives) to any cocoa products and as a kid they were an easily obtained treat when everyone else tucked into their chocolate bars.

I worked in Halifax in the 90s and there was often a waft of Caramac around the town, it used to remind me of my childhood. I’ll miss them, but probably won’t lose any sleep.

Nowt wrong with a Greggs pasty and they actually do nice sandwiches too. The pizza slices I can do without, far too greasy.

I buy one every couple of years out of nostalgia, they aren’t as sweet or caramely as I remember so probably don’t fit with todays tastes. I will be buying one on the way home though.

Don’t worry… we, the great unwashed, still have our Gold bars.

    The taste of  my childhood

    Me too!

Despite my Dad working at Cadbury’s in Bourneville I used to eat loads of these. I bought one recently and realised why I USED to love them, my god they are sickly sweet!

I shall still be sad to see them go :o(

Future generations of kids will miss that throat-burning sugar.caramel hit.  Kids today…

I used to work in Sales at Nestle Rowntree in the late 90s/early 00s and they were a flagging item back then. Surprised they lasted so long – I love them…

Love the occasional caramac but can’t go to buy one last one as I’ve had a bath. Never knew they were supposed to be chocolate either, the things you learn from bullshit.

Whats the flavour of the current generation, a lot of these old ‘favourites’ just seem to be something from time immemorial ?

My guess is that this new story will drive the sales up, and Nestle will give it a last minute reprive

Temporarily until everyone once again realises that it’s more or less a slab of condensed milk. It’s actually a bloody good extra ingredient for topping a banoffee pie if you don’t find it sweet enough already.

Me and HtS used to work with an odious bastard who had a faux leather jacket that was exactly the same colour as a Caramac. I didn’t eat them after that.

I bought a bar of Fruit’n’nut the other day. My 16 year old said she loves the stuff but could never buy a bar because it’s for old people.

I suspect that came more from the doorways and telephone boxes than some chocolate factory.

Only if you can buy the stuff, so far I’ve been into 5 or 6 shops and not a sniff. I last bought some from Co-op and they don’t have any, anyone seen some?

Bloody hope so. Was gutted when they stopped doing caramac buttons.

Caramilk and milky bar gold just aren’t the same

I am a Caramac fan but haven’t seen them in any of the supermarkets I shop in recently. Did buy one a couple of months ago but it must have been at a supermarket I rarely use.

Also haven’t seen Lion Bars in my local Tesco or Waitrose for months – gutted!

Caramilk is nice especially when Farmfoods sold the off for 29p usually about £2 anywhere else due to them being 6 weeks left until they turn rancid aye right
Same thing a while back with Cadbury Orange cheap as chips for large bars but maybe not great for the teeth or the threat of diabetes

Aah, the taste of Caramac is the taste of primary school sports days for me.

Everyone taking part in the races got given a Caramac at the finish line. It was excellent 🙂

My first ever encounter with Caramac was when I was given a Caramac Easter Egg one year. Full caramacy egg, along with two little bars. I felt a bit sick after that. Still don’t mind them though. I tried the Cadbury version a while back and found it very bland.

The reality is Caramac tastes like crap which is why they don’t sell and are being withdrawn.

Now Texan Bars are the opposite and still went out of fashion so go figure. A few Texan Bars are still available on eBay at a ballsy price (£99.99 each) so maybe an investment opportunity for those with a reliable freezer and a bit of patience.
