Morning you lot. So it seems I’ve just happened to buy another hardtail frame which I’m planning on building up rigid, 1×10 and with big tyres.

Is there a fork out there that’ll take a decent sized tyre (2.5+) but not flex? Was thinking about a jump type fork but I’m guessing there’ll be zero give in those and they won’t be long enough (frame is an Evil Sovereign so want something pretty long to slacken it out).

Any ideas? Was thinking maybe an On-One Fatty?

Be aware on one fatty is 135mm and requires hub with rear wheel disc spacing.

Singular plus fork will take 29×3 or 27.5×2.8 easily and is 100mm spacing. Depends how long a A-C length your frame can cope with though

I’d be looking at the Identiti forks

    Prong look plenty beefy.

You can buy the Trek fork they stick on the Stache. Should fit the bill re length and spacing.

Not wanting to come across as an arse, but something that has no flex will also have no give.

Really, anything rigid will have no give when it comes to actually smoothing out the trail – but something that will allow you to run big tyres will help- particularly if you combine it with the right tyres and low pressures.

A big wheel will help slacken things out (29 or 27.5+) a bit, as long as it fits. BITD I ran a 29er in a 26er On-One fork with no bother, could easily have run a bigger tyre too.

I have and use a pair of these:

    15mm 100mm spaced and tapered.

They’ll take a Knard on a Rabbit Hole (29+) and a 3” NN in 650b+ guise on a Hugo rim with room to spare.

    No real noticeable flex.

I use it when not using my Pike on the front of my Sherpa.

I’d check yours for cracks as yes there is a little compliance, it’s steel after all. But side to side? No movement there out of the saddle sprinting etc otherwise the disc would rub, which it doesn’t even with a 45mm rim & 29+ tyre on

I can second the suggestion for the Travers Prong…

Personally I wouldn’t stick a rigid fork on a hardcore HT (kind of missing the point?) but if you HAVE to, a prong will easily fit a 29 x 2.6 tyre…

Also, somehow, it doesn’t feel like a rigid fork – stable in the corners, but does feel (oh god..I’m going to say it…) compliant….

    Hmm

    Surly Krampus fork?
Plenty long enough, stiff but not overly so. Might be a bit long for (I assume) a 26″ bike.

Or the Exotic carbon forks. I’ve got a set on my Dialled Love/Hate. Very solidly built, and though designed for 26″, they will happily take a 29 x 2.4 with loads of room to spare.
