Big difference between modern white cars and the old white on cars such as the Early 90 fiestas and escorts.

I like having a white car, I can see the dirt on it so I know when to get it cleaned

TAFKASTR, do they not do those trucks in yellow? I think you’re a yellow car kinda guy. 🙂

It has been known dd, but they look shit…

Not like that uber cool Transit I was going to buy 😉

Mine is white because it was the most visible colour that came at no extra cost. I do a lot of miles so anything that reduces the chance of some nugget trying to kill me has to be a good thing.

White is the new cool. I like!

I used to hate white, but that was because fleet lease/cheap cars had thin cheap single stage white paint… I now really like the pearlescent white that you see.

Best car colour I’ve seen recently was a machine grey Subaru XV that almost rendered matt. I though it was a factory colour, but I cant find any pictures on t’internet.

Not had a white car since my dad’s Austin Rover Montego. what a heap of junk that was.
Currently in a boring grey, invisibility cloaked Volvo.

Only utility vehicles and cars with a motorsport/rallying pedigree should be white.

This is remarkably popular with well heeled middle ages ladies in my area:

I live in Surrey and see a lot of white cars. I’m still undecided about the colour as it can look great on the right car, but one car I’ve decided its ALL wrong on… is the Range Rover/RR sport. Just wrong!

Therefore first rule is ‘not on a large car’.

    White = Chav

I think, statistically, white cars = middle aged middle management

My current Yeti is white because I bought it off the showroom floor, and that was the colour of the demo one they wanted to shift. My new one goes by the brilliantly imaginative name of ‘silver metallic silver’. So it appears I’ve managed to be uncool twice in a row.

I like it when it’s clean. It’s not clean very often. The Yeti colours for this year were pretty horrible, there was a squirrel shit brown, some kind of ‘has it got a disease’ green and a blue that somehow managed to look shiny and matt at the same time.

    Ah yes, Shat Blue.

@matt – I’ve seen one of the sparkly Mercs parked outside Harrods, it does make you smile in a sort of “OMG that’s shhiiite” short of way

OP my mate had a white car, he claims he loved it but his new one is now metallic blue. It did look ok as he was fastidious about keeping it clean. IMO white is colour for warmer climates and less muddy/dirty roads.

White is very popular with certain buyer demographics in West London, just saying.

I have one white vehicle but it’s a van, and white never goes out of fashion for vans.

White might be oh so on-trend for cars right now but it won’t be in 4-5 years time when you want to sell it. The market will be awash with white cars and everyone will clamour for something awful like green or yellow.

Personally I like silver cars (bite me), but IMO a big lump like an XC90 works better with a dark colour so I’d say black or dark shade of blue or grey.

A white car is much better for being visible on the road. Grey and silver cars just disappear in dull grey weather.

And IMO Black shows dirt much more than a White car.

…. I should add that another thing that’s putting me off a white car is that my SIL has a white X5 and so I REALLY don’t want to go down that route.

it could be a cop car but more likely to be this..especially if you live in essex

it could be worse.. you could have a black car ( 2010 equivalent of silver cars 🙂 )

White cars don’t show the dirt as much as most other colours

    No, I’m not having that!
The only colour criteria I apply is NOT white and NOT black, thankyou.

The best I’ve had so far is dark metalic gunmetal grey. I washed my last Mundane-o quite religeously (every other Easter, or 40k miles maybe) and it still looked clean/new at 160k.
Whereas my new (dark blue) Mundane-o looks mucky already and I’ve only done about 6k miles in it since October!

Sounds like you’ll be keeping it a while. Brand new out of the showroom with a foot thickness of wax on it – white = OK. Ten years on, motorway grime, bird shat, sunbleached, arch rust = Not OK. (alright same for any colour but white is particulalry unforgiving)

you could argue that for that model in any colour 😉

Oh dear, you clearly know nothing about motorsport or racing/rallying pedigree if you refer to Audi as a bellend.
For a start, white/silver are Germany’s classic racing colour, and Audi have as long and illustrious racing/rallying heritage as anyone out there!
This is an Auto-Union Grand Prix car, recognise the logo?

Audi Quattro rally car, recognise it?

    Audi Le Mans racer?

I think he was making reference specially to the model of car and not Audi. I could be wrong though.

Had a white L200 and hated it but had no choice in colour as company vehicle but when that died got a silver L200 and much prefer that apart from the reflective green stripe down the side and reflective logo. But it does hide the dirt better than the white one did.

We’ve currently got two white cars and a white T4 van, all my cars since 1990 something have been white. I like white cars, much easier to clean than a black car.

Got my third white car, full Cheshire spec. with black wheels etc. however, have decided that the fad has long since passed, so on to pastures new. Next one will be British Racing Green. Or possibly Brown.

Not mine, google image but similar. I’ve got a side window. I’ve also painted the bumpers white and the wheels black. Makes it look more ‘car like’ if that makes sense, only a little thing but it looks so much better, although I think that may not be the consensus on here….
Wasn’t much choice other than white when I was buying it, not brand new.

The further south you go the more attractive white becomes. You don’t need a rag to be able to open the bonnet or boot, and the inside temperature in several degrees cooler than a dark car. Black cabs in London, white taxis in Casablanca.

The “black cabs” are white in many places eg Madrid, Leeds; I don’t recall seeing that many palm trees when I lived in north Leeds

Congratulations on missing the point by a country mile.

Having been involved in motorsport from an early age I’m quite aware of Audis pedigree thanks, though If you can point me in the direction of all the wins Audi have achieve with the Q7 do I’d like to see them 😉

+1 by far the best colour. Never looks clean never looks dirty

Drove 200 shit-strewn miles to Wales & back over Xmas the car looked like it’d done a rally stage when I parked up. It rained overnight and in the morning somehow the car had cleaned itself
