Kid gets a free bike for a few drawings in a competition.
Is super-chuffed with it.
Rides the crap out of it, cementing MTB as his lifelong hobby.
Grows up and becomes too big for it.
Bike gets retired and replaced with a bigger bike.
Bike can then be hung upon the garage/shed/living room wall as a reminder of all the fun and joy it had brought him.
If the kid is struggling for funds for the next bike the components can be sold or moved onto a new frame, keeping the handpainted frame.
Kid is now an adult and still riding bikes.
Struggling to see the downside to this story!
