Had a crash 2 weeks ago (ran out of talent) and banking that my sore shoulder will be right in a couple more weeks so I’m looking to fix the bike up to cheer myself out of the current self pity/lethargy.

It has a 9sp xt derailleur from circa 2008/9 that got trashed. Apart from cable and jockey wheel changes its been great so was thinking like for like swap. After looking on merlincycles crc and some of the German sites I’m very confused by the shimano model codes and descriptions.

Any clue what 9spd one I should be looking at and can I get a clutch one or are they 10sp only?
    Many thanks for advice.

Clutch (or Shadow+) is 10sp only. “Shadow” mechs just mean they’re lower profile than normal, so tucked out of the way a bit, worth getting IMO.

The two below would be what I’d look at. Medium cage for a one/two ring setup, long cage for three.

Ok thanks and I’m assuming no shifter compatibility problems with those?

Notice the German sites are dearer…guess the pound bombing explains that.

No, as long as you have a 9 spd shifter you can simply bolt the new mech in place.

Are you running double or triple? If double, I am about to swap out my SLX M662 GS which you can have for dead right money . I’m only swapping it ‘cos I’m an upgrade whore…. it’s less than five rides old.
