    Morning all

The MagSafe (1) charger for my venerable 17 inch MacBook Pro of 2007 vintage went pop (literally) this morning.

Can anyone confirm if the L tip version (of which there seem to be plenty of options available) work with the T tip friendly port on my MacBook?

    Ta in advance.

I have (well, one of the kids has actually), a 2008 macbook which originally came with a T tip magsafe 1 connector. The power brick went pop like yours, and now we’re using an L tip one from Amazon. Works fine. They’re not very well made, but for £20/30 you get what you pay for.

Yes, up to 2012 the Magsafe 1 could be T or L tip. Good ones available on eBay for around £15, I’ve bought two recently, both good.
You need the 60W or 85W for Mac Pro.

    Cheers both.

Heading off to the Bay just now for an 85W charger.

Just remember to triple check the size of the port you’re buying, MagSafe 1 and 2 are not the same.

Yep, quadruple checked. MagSafe 1 required – MagSafe 1 ordered.
