IPhone battery is pretty useless now and I don’t really want to have to spend £1000 for the newest all singing piece of tech.

I’ve looked at back market, but even that they are £600

Has anyone had any success with having a replacement battery fitted at Apple?

Currently I am 65%max battery, would a new battery last another few years?

Or do I just stop delaying the inevitable and get a new one?

Depending on which model you have you may be able to do it yourself. For older models, places like ifixit.com will sell you the battery and kit to do it for <£100, with decent online instructions.

What model of phone? It might hit obsolescence soon (no more updates, app support gets sketchy) in which case the £80-100??? for a new battery might be better spent on something newer.

£85 for a new battery at Apple and you’ll get a couple more years of support and updates  (https://www.knowyourmobile.com/phones/discontinued-iphones-list/). Assuming the phone is in decent condition and you’re happy with the camera (the thing that is the most obvious improvement when you upgrade) then it’s worth keeping.

If you do get a battery replacement in person don’t go anywhere near an Apple Store on a weekend, book it in for a first appointment of the day, and call ahead to make sure they have the parts for a rapid turnaround.

ninja’d by scuttler. Seems a fair price for a OEM battery and warrantied work.

Change it yourself for £20 (cost of a good battery), it’s quite easy on iPhone 11,

I’ve been told by numerous sources if and when your iPhone battery health becomes 82% then IT NEEDS REPLACING.

Isn’t there a bloke at your local market who will do it for £40? I thought there was one in every town.

If you are going to attempt DIY, proceed with caution. I’ve seen an iPhone battery go up by being bent slightly too much, it was… let’s go with “dramatic.”

not used them myself but a quick google suggests Replacebase sells genuine Apple batteries and seem well regarded (although they’re out of stock of 11s at the moment). Possibly there are other genuine sellers available if you look.

I went with Apple, the screen/fingerprint thingy got damaged when they were doing it so that all got replaced too, no extra charge, well worth the money.

Having not replaced an iPhone battery since model 5, I had a look to see what is involved in changing one in an 11 – https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPhone+11+Battery+Replacement/127450 Not for the faint-hearted!
