    Hey,

I’ve got external circlips holding in some of the frame bearings on my Oiz.

I actually can’t figure out the best way to remove them without damaging the existing bearing seals.

They’re external snap rings, they’re not the same as internal snap rings – those you can pop a small flat bladed screwdriver under and pop out easily. These have the open end the other way up.

Do you remove these with two picks/drivers? Or is there a specific technique?

Here’s an image of the clip, on the left-

    Cheers

I’ve got both external and internal circlip pliers, I thought they were only useful for the standard c-clip circlips!

So they work on snap rings too?

picks are the way, just need one to start it and the other to get behind so it doesn’t snap back, definite stand or vice job as you need both hands to stop it turning into a painful job.

Or as bigyan has shown….the correct tools. Picks are for picking out seals/orings. Not for removing circlips.

That top Knipex looks like it would work. I’m a sucker for specific tools.
