Specifically, what island/resort is well set up for families and doesn’t have the young nightlife scene (ie Kavos).

    Prefer one with an airport.

Sandy beaches and lovely shallow sea a must!

    Thank you.

Whatever you choose book soon as demand for Spain is through the roof due to security issues in Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia. Greece has been a bit softer due to concerns about migrants impacting holiday destinations but the reality is that’s only close to Turkey, overflow from booked-out Spain will undoubtably boost Greece

I can’t recommend as we only did Club Med/Mark Warner holidays with kids and never left the property, our Island hopping was pre kids.

OP, seeing lot of coverage of this in papers and on tv in France esp Majorca which is very heavily booked. Friends who have pre-booked Club Med in Turkey have been told clubs may not open at all this season and they will be relocated elsewhere with no right to a refund if so.

We’ve just booked Stalis in Crete as we went last year and loved it. We also looked to avoid the typical ‘nightlife’ areas. Email in profile if you’d like any more info.

Thassos has some fantastic beaches. small enough island that you visit most of them in a day with a car. Kefalonia and Lefkas also have great beaches. Don’t be put off by Kavos, as Corfu is a huge island – the North is very picturesque, and some lovely resorts.

    Skiathos.

A bit greener than most of the islands as it is slightly milder.

Gorgeous place, gorgeous food and beautiful beaches. We stayed at Green Meadow Aprtments three times and thoroughly enjoyed each and every time.

Skiathos……..small, green and perfectly formed. Last 4 times stayed at the Skiathos Palace at the south of island by koukanaris(?) beach, recommended. Very small Island, can do it all in less than a week then just relax.

Last couple of years its Crete….much much bigger than Skiathos, not as ‘quaint’ but miles of empty beaches where we stay (Ponermo? on the north coast about 90mind rive from airport.

Corfu……lovely place. Infact, I want to be Greek!!!

Kefalonia. Skala is pretty nice. Wide sandy beach with a reef to snorkel on.

been to zante, corfu and rhodes, and we’re just about to head back to tsilivi in zante for the 3rd time, something we said we’d never do. beach is sandy, sea lovely, warm and shallow, and theres plenty of little tavernas and eateries perfect for families.

theres one or two livelier pubs if you so desired, but we’re looking forward to hitting the jolly roger pub every night, the owners hilarious 😀

its a bit quieter up the north end of the resort, thats where we always head.

When my daughter was small we went to Sifnos which is quiet and family oriented and has sandy beaches and shallow sea.

As jamba says it will be busy this year in Greece as Turkey, Egypt etc are losing trade.

Zante and specifically Tsilivi fit your requirements perfectly, or at least they did when I went 10 years ago or so.

    I stayed at this place:

Nicely out of town with a huge sandy beach with few people on it 5 mins away. Highly recommended.

Naxos has beautiful quiet beaches, particularly at the southern end of the island, but also mountains and pretty villages to explore if you’ve a car. I’d love to go back there.

Went to Thassos back in ’79/80, on an early Club 18/30 holiday, before they became synonymous with drunken debauchery. Stayed in a spare room belonging to a local, pretty basic but very cheap back then. The island is lovely, the beaches near to Thassos town are ideal for kids, as the water is fairly shallow, and as its on the norther side of the island facing the mainland, very sheltered. It was possible to get organised boat trips around to beaches on the southern side, which face out into the Med, so it can be windier and the sea a bit rougher.
I got heatstroke after an afternoon there, it felt quite cool with the wind, and I underestimated the strength of the sun. Big mistake! I felt bloody awful, and got quite badly burned to boot! Fortunately my girlfriend, being half Chinese, and having naturally darker skin than my pale English bod, was ok and made trips into town to bring back soothing food and drink.
The point being that with kids, you really have to take great care, I failed to and really suffered as a result. Otherwise it’s a lovely place, and as far as I know, still relatively unspoiled.

forgot to say, tsilivi is also just a short transfer from the airport, only about 20 mins i think if that.
also just a little further up, theres 2 places next to each other, alykes and alykanas (sp) which are also lovely. the nearest one was the quietest, think it was alykanas, with the water like a bath and even shallower than tsilivi.
