I’ll stay in fun please as it’s James first event and my second but I’m at the tail end of injury recovery so will not be ‘at my best’ by a long margin. Approaching the event in the true spirit of ‘fun’

My first enduro race really – bit scared
What time should we be on site?
Is this the usual car park in QECP?

even experienced racers get nervous before races. Its part of the reason we get hooked.
I will be emailing out a park/camping/sign-on map with the start times later today.

Riders Breathing will be at 17:30 but you will be able to sign-on from 16:00.

Let the children loose in our fantastic play areas. For children aged eight and over there is an extensive range of equipment at the Adventure Play Trail near the Juniper BBQ site. Conditions up there are cracking – just run a lap of the red trail after work & it’s nice & grippy out. It’s not dusty either

My mate Mr Perry would like to sell his ticket on if that’s possible? He might already have been in contact (with the organisers)

Scott/Mork – can my mate sell his ticket on direct or does it need to go through your good selves?

@scottfitz – Is there any way to get mates starting at the same sort of time? Should I just mail you the names? There’s 3 of us racing for the first time in the fun category….

sorry to late now. email me anyway I see if I can get you a bit closer together but not promising anything as I have already emailed out the start times.
    Or
I can stick you at the end of the Sport Cat but you will be setting off last and back last. You will have to be in sport as the timing system can’t handle splitting the cat’s. There is not difference between fun and sport apart from skill level/fitness of riders but you will be setting of after everyone so its not a big deal.

tor5- I am shutting down my PC in 15 mins and won’t be back on it till after the event. So if you want to do what I sujested you have about 10 mins. I will be on site taping track on Friday and sat morning.

    See you all on Sat.

P.S I have some very good news about the beer tent that I can say till the day but its well worth camping 🙂

^ as above, great idea doing an Enduro in the dark. Great atmosphere and lots of smiley faces from all those who finished. Unfortunately I crashed out on stage 1 and smashed my shoulder up. Nothing broken but now home and showered its ceased up and even trying to pull up boxers is a mission…ho hum serves me right. Thanks to the two guys who picked me up and got me out of the way of the others 🙂

But from practice, there was a proper mix of trails. Dont personally like the off camber rooty stuff on some stages but it goes with the territory at QECP, but overall good fun. Transitions between stage 1-2 and 2-3 were easily done in time (eg many with 10mins to spare). Transition from 3-4 almost caught out a lot of people, so perhaps some tweaking for next year.

Free beer and lots of friendly people from all different walks of life was great. Amazing mix of bikes and big kudos to No. 49 on his on-one fatty….went REALLY well….infact I reckon it would be my weapon of choice for next year if Brant can sort out a carbon one for me 😉

Next up, someone needs to arrange one at Swinley….would be great fun in the dark!

Stage 1 was very challenging for me, after that really got into it and enjoyed the other trails – great event!

    Any links to photos welcome.

Enjoyed marshalling / heckling on the drop in on stage 1 and the funnier crashes

I’m not quite sure what I did there but I recall dropping in just fine and then my tyres trying to head off in a variety of novel directions instead of around the turn – I think you might have shouted some congratulations on me not binning it!

Great event, thanks to the organisers, marshals and other racers for making it a fun and friendly place to cut my racing teeth!

Anyone got a link to photos/results?

Just to reiterate others’ posts- great night out!

Trails were varied with a good mix of technical and fitness challenge, and racing in the dark was a great additional buzz. Atmosphere was great too, partly due to plenty of heckling/encouragement round the course… And beer. Free beer! Being handed one when skidding to a stop sideways at the end made it for me!

Well done Scott and team, looking forward to the summer one!

    Now, did I beat ChiefGrooveGuru?
