I weighed my ghost wheels, 1498g with tape and valves…

It’s like they’re not really there.

Those with the Ghost wheels, have you found the specs/sizes for bearings etc along with spoke lengths?

I haven’t looked into that at all. The spokes are flat bladed pillar spokes, no idea how easy it will be to get spares…

Merlin have the Felt VR 60 (claris) road bikes, boxed for £370 atm.. insane pricing, if you want to dip your shoes into road biking its an absolute steal, for that money you can afford to upgrade it and still be quids in over a higher spec bike IMHO, my only complaint is claris is a bit clunky and gappy, id certainly be happier with a few more cogs

They also have their own brand gravel ebike for £700, no views on that except it seems cheap, yet heavy (18kg) hub drive, but with crank torque sensor

Those spokes appear to be available if we knew what length and weight (they appear to come in 4 different weights) are needed. I’ve fired off a query to Ghost themselves asking for info.

Can’t find any reviews on those wheels, what if they are as still as hell, fall apart and the freehub is turd?

The wheels seem to come on this bike https://www.ghost-bikes.com/int-en/lector-fs-sf-pro/

So regards Stevelol’s concerns maybe the biggest risk is they will eat someone else’s wheels.

More seriously will the hubs not be likely rebranded novatec or bitex or the like?

That’s good! Still expensive, but (to me) more appealing than the Ghost wheels due to the unknowns vs lifetime warranty on the Reverves. A set of those Reserves came on my new-to-me bike and they’re lovely.

    27.5 are £680, 29er are £850 in that link.

a single rim by itself is £650 – that’s a hell of a deal…. lifetime warranty on the rims too.

repeat.  I do not need any more wheels I do not need any more wheels

More people might be interested in the Reserve AL SL wheels on Stif for £300 (27.5) or £390 (29 or mx).

350 hubs and a decent weight.

Naturehike Cloud-Up 2-person tent for £84.00 at the Bezos Empire – appeared to be well regarded on here from a search I did when looking for small/light/cheap 1-2 person tent. I’ve got one on the way.

    Cloud-Up 1 person also available for £71.00.

I was going to buy Roval Control Alloy 29 wheels for my Stumpy in the sale at £340 but would then need to by a MS freehub and 6 bolt rotors.

So I bought a set of the Carbon Ghost 29s which will plug and play for £400 and Klarnad it across 3 months. Let’s see what they are like, worth a punt at that money. The MS ones were £50 cheaper than the rest of them.

TBF at £400 even if the rear hub is crap on those wheels it’d not be the end of the world to replace it. I really don’t need any wheels, but but but…

Bit OT but 2 good deals for car tyres… National have some specific but common sizes of the excellent Goodyear Vector Allseason Gen 3 at £103 but also have a 10% off 2, 20% off 4 deal. And also 2.55% topcashback if you do that. So I just got all 4 corners, with mobile fitting for free, for £344.77 in a 225/45/17.

Similiarly ATS have one of their stacky offers on for Michelin so you can get £70 off a set of 4, plus a £50 amazon voucher. Applies to all Michelins but this time of year the usually expensive Crossclimate 2 sticks out and again in my 225/45/17 would come to £355.96 after the £50 voucher’s taken into account.

Neither’s the Current Hottness in allseasons, absolutely everyone says the new Pirelli is the king of the roost but they’re a good chunk more expensive. I figure these are both definitely Good Enough.

Speaking of National Tyres – they are part of Halfords now and one of their smoke and mirrors online ‘brands’ is:

    https://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk/

I bought thru that site last week and it was £30 a corner cheaper compared to National’s own site. Stock / fitting etc are all done at your National branch.

Worth checking at the very least.

@ceept I ordered pixel 8a saturday morning and still haven’t had even a delivery schedule email yet. Ordered the 256Gb one. Suspecting it may get cancelled now.

@ceept I ordered a 128gb 8A last week and arrived following day. I have decided I need a 256gb version, as didnt realise no memory card slot. Ordered the 256gb on Monday, with intention to return the 128gb, and still not recieved despatch notification. Guess its taking them time to catch up.

i procrastinated too long.  decided id pay the extra for the 256Gb version in green, went to order it, not available now, only the 128 so ive left it.

@Andy If the 256 does turn up I would take the 128 off you hands as I missed the offer.

That’s a disturbing verb. Even more so in the context of carbon MTB wheels. You do you, of course.

This was timely as I need four tyres. As it turned out nowhere was particularly cheap for my 225/50R17 98W s .. was looking at £600+ everywhere really…apart from Costco who had 4xVector Allseasons for £390, almost unbelievably cheap in comparison to everywhere else. I’m generally against renewing the Costco card…but they’ve come up trumps this time.

Those Al Reserve wheels are looking tempting now.
