As far as I’m aware the Category C target time is 30 minutes. I’m not 100% certain on that though as I take no notice of the targets!

    From the website.

    Cat A Incidents within 8 minutes Target = 75%
    Cat C1 Incidents within 20 minutes Target = 90%
    Cat C2 Incidents within 30 minutes Target = 90%

    http://www.londonambulance.nhs.uk/talking_with_us/freedom_of_information/classes_of_information/what_are_our_priorities_and_ho.aspx

Though to me that reads that the targets are to get to 90% of C2 incidents within 30 mins. Not every incident.

So why when it is accepted that they are never going to get to every incident on target are they negligent when they miss one?

It would be easy to hit nearly every target. Double the budget and have twice the number of ambulances. Or alternatively do as we do now and balance the budget against what is a reasonable service and accept we can’t afford perfection.

Does seem like the kind of case in which there would be a public interest in seeing how it got on in a higher court…the precedent doesn’t seem to fit the circumstances very well in terms of natural justice.

Whatever the medical ‘experts’ and other hired guns say, it’s absolutely impossible to prove beyond broad generalisation and speculation that the extra 17 minutes contributed to her outcome in more than a marginal way.

If that’s enough under precedent to award 500k of taxpayer’s money, then perhaps the precedent needs a bit more scrutiny.

So my son who spent 3 days with broken arm being sent away from the hospital as each consultant needed another, and they don’t work weekends…..should be in line for One Meeeeeelion pounds, no?

Unfortunately not, matt – not unless he had a well paid job which he had to give up as a result of the broken arm.

Aye, but his future earnings as a darts work champion will be significantly impacted.

According to my cousin, who lives in France, they spend a mere 20% more than we do, and have a pretty amazing health service.

(Having said which, the only time I’ve really needed the NHS they were also pretty awesome. Especially the gas and air. And the morphine).
