Either this or my first generation Soul now run as a single speed. Both do exactly what I want them to do.

Here’s mine. Used for DH @ FoD and regular rides on the Malverns. Climbs really well too…

So, we’ve established that the ideal do-it-all bike is ……… one with two wheels 😀

You’ll be wanting a “Mountain Bike”.

My Ragley Blue Pig does everything my old Dialled PA did but a bit better. It is a very good Jack of All trades, Master of None bike.

However it is jolly good fun!

Short Stem, Wide Bars, 150mm Air Fork with 15mm axle, decent strong and light wheels, dropper post, nice and slack HA, nice and steep SA, decent brakes, 2×9 SLX drivetrain, chunky tyres, sorted.

If i was to change it it would be for either a Specialized Enduro type Bike or a slack 29er HT like the Kona Honzo/Chromag Surface.

Though I’m quite tempted by the new On-One Ti 456Evo…

Too subjective to get a definitive answer, even outside of stw!

For example, I see no bikes I this thread that I would be happy to use for everything I do, but I know very few folk would consider what I own ‘all-rounders’

The closest thing IMO is the current bottlerocket; with a decent spec it’s light enough to ride xc, tough enough to go mental and has neutral enough geometry to handle dj, dh, fr, xc, am, pm, ATM,rpm aa, rac etc… Depending on the skills of the rider of course 😉

Milkie, where is that pic, Alps? Ta.

I’d post my all-rounder but I’d be laughed off the internet ) Anyone that has 1 bike for 90% or more of their riding and loves it has a great DIA bike and DIA bikes are brilliant.. that’s all I can contribute sorry.. 1xDIA>(N+1)

My New Epiphany by Bigdaddy 1974, on Flickr[/img]Ellsworth Epiphany – does/done everything – Surrey Hills, Alps, duathlon racing, Gorrick racing, Black Mountains 3 day. I’m getting rid of my 2nd mtb as I don’t ever use it – this does everything I want…

I did a months road touring in Newfoundland on my old ridgid kona lavadome then put some fatter tyres on it and rode downhill courses (slowly!) in Vermont.

That’s a do it all bike.

Photo was taken in the French Alps near La Plagne, looking towards Mont Jovet. The bike is a Genius LT (31 lbs) and it was just as hard as it was with a light HT.

Well worth it for the descent here..

Best bike I’ve ever owned (and I’ve owned a few). Brilliant climber and plush descender.

Getting properly back into riding after some time off and got a Giant Trance X, which has been great so far. Done XC on it plus the Alps (Tignes, Morzine, and Meribel) for 2 weeks in the summer and was faster than the guys i rode with who had beefier big travel bikes. Used to ride a DMR trailstar then some other steel hardtails so this Giant Trance is very different but so far seems like a great all rounder.

    Do it all bike……….

I can do all the shopping on this bike. If you look carefully you will notice a french stick and a new toilet seat!

This ones not so good for shopping 😀

The guide in Finale Ligura said this was totally unsuitable for the freeride trails, I told him it was the only unsuitable freeride bike that I had ………

My Nicolai Helius FR was pretty close. A 38lb FR/DH capable machine when fitted with Totems, coil shock, Mavic 823’s & dual ply High Rollers……or a 32lb do everything bike when fitted with 36 Floats, an air can and Flow rims.

So that seems to be a majority vote for the Cotic Hemlock as “best ever do it all bike”

Probably my BFe, but it wasn’t the most fun bike to ride it was just good at a bit of everything. Not an inspiring ride!

OK I changed my mind, it’s this. Trails, street, park, riding to the shops and about town, chucking in the back of my car for lunch hour rides and riding back from the pub!
