The old Planet X road saddles had polished leather on the sides and a suede strip down the middle.

They had a very decent shape and just enough padding.

They aren’t sold by PX anymore, and though they used to be £10 a throw, the few that occasionally turn up on eBay are £30 or so.

They will have been someone’s re-badged generic saddle, but does anyone know whose?

or have any of info on a mysterious new old stock supply?

Or have one in decent nick they’d swap for a tenner?

They were just a rip off of the Fizik Arione which is still available.

I had the Arione – didn’t get on with it.

And I now have the Antares Versus. Hopped on my son’s bike that has the old PX and was amazed how comfy it felt.

It’s more like an Antares (non Versus) I think – but I’m not sure.

Sorry, can’t answer re: the Planet X saddle, but I’ve had all the Antares at one point and didn’t get on with the Versus, it seemed stiffer and harder than the others. If you looked at the underside of the wings, the usual Fizik wing-flex system was missing and instead there was just a cosmetic detail printed on the plastic shell.

I have an old Antares Open R3 I’m looking to sell, definitely more comfortable than the Versus…
