I’ve gotta get this sorted for morning. I don’t want tiles. Old wooden 22mm floor boards, many previous cut outs, equals probable cracks and I never like the thought of not being able to get to a leak quickly. So… some kind of waterproof laminate/vinyl/anything, completely white walls apart from 90 degree herringbone gloss grey bevelled tiles around the bath and sink splash back. Please inspire me…

pre varnished cork tiles? the floor underneath needs to be reasonably smooth though.

vinyl for me. Recently done two bathrooms – one in classic black and white fake tiles one in black bubble pattern vinyl

Argh! Those toilet rug things are just so wrong. Why?

I’d go for some kind of vinyl.

Most finishes that I’d want in a Bathroom would need over boarding of your knackered floor anyway to look any good. It’s much quicker to get at leaks through the ceiling below……

It will be overboarded. Off to the shops…

    +1 Blazin.
Existing floorboards plus a glued and screwed ply layer then Ditra and tile won’t be cracking any time soon.

But, in answer to the suggestions request…

Boring but practical? We had white, bright green and just went for a light grey floor with some flecks in it so it didn’t show marks.

won’t noticeably fade, it’ll be cheap. You can put doen a bathmat if you want more colour.

Aquastep make by quickstep laminate people. Waterproof, some nice designs and hard wearing.

I laid the rubber tiling like that in dirkdiggler’s post over 5mm ply screwed to the floorboards. Looks good and allowed me to exercise my artistic bent in cutting around the pipes and china. Still haven’t sorted the bath panels, though.

Carpet. Just ordinary wool carpet with underlay. Stick a bathmat on when you’re going to be splashy. Really nice to stand on and you’ll be surprised how long it stays looking good.

We have Marmoleum. It’s easy care, natural and enough pattern that you don’t have to clean it after every use but not so much that your eyes hurt.
