Great shots zokes – love the second one. Where is the light on the trees coming from?

Cheers Grum. The light’s just ambient from a very few curtained windows across the car park. The one of the milky-way is at ISO 12800 for 30 seconds, so sadly not that pretty above postcard size…

What a thread. Real talent on here. Pity they didn’t use some of these photos in this year’s Singletrack calender – I wouldn’t have binned mine if they did. Zokes – blown away by your pictures in particular. Superb. Makes me want to go out and get an SLR camera and have a go, but of the 1000s of pictures I’ve taken in my life I don’t think I’ve taken any that match the quality of the majority of these. My favorite thread ever. Hats off to all the contributors.

Thanks very much – glad you and others like them! Though IMO others on here are far more worthy of praise than I.

The stars ones are pretty easy if you get yourself somewhere street-light free. Although I was in rural Oz when I took those, I was still in a motel’s car park on the edge of a town of about 6000 residents, so not pitch black by any means. I do need a faster lens though to avoid 30 second exposures at silly-high ISO – whilst the milky way may look good there, I wouldn’t print it much larger than A5-4 – far too noisy

For me, ginjaninja’s rock – simply because they’re extremely good examples of what would for most people end up as a very bland photograph. It’s a genre that completely eludes me despite periodic attempts.

Thanks. Very kind. There’s loads of beauty in all the places around. Perhaps the best example is this guy on Flickr.

That first one of the dog is superb! Less keen on the watermark though.

Cheers ninja – the watermark’s the only way to stop folk pinching the pics – I’ve found mine being used for profit before, without permission…

Loving the shapes and angles in that 2nd pic ^^^ Have you tried it in B+W?

Looking at the good photos on here and the sunshine outside I might have to get my camera out, feeling inspired 😛

Here’s one I took the other day that I was happy with:

I know what you mean but I could easily crop that out and still use it if I was that keen on using it.

Have you tried TinEye? http://www.tineye.com/ It can find where your images have been used. Found lots of mine being used in blogs all over the place but can’t be that worried about it. Is a pain though and would be nice to be asked.

Yeah did give it a go in B+W but wasn’t so sure. Trying to stay in colour after a recent obsession with B+W.

I’ve seen this thread pop up over and over again, always having a look for some ideas 😀 but never quite getting round to putting anything up.
So, I thought I had better start somewhere:

User-removed – Those dog shots are great, and a nice angle using the off camera flash! Might have a go at this!
