I’ve been hoping for a while that I’ll be able to get a few shots that are worthy of this thred. I reckon these are pretty cool although nowhere near the quality of some on here.

I saw this on the telegraph website (I love the animal galleries). Whilst not a technically amazing pic, I think it’s a wonderful metaphor for life.

I wish I could save a copy. Is there a way? (just for my personal use of course).

The light that day was mad – it was about -7 at the time as well.

    This one is very cool

Just got a Canon 5D (MK I) – had my first play with it today and it seems pretty nice. Got some fancy new lenses too – can’t wait to go and have a proper play.

My effort (with a Canon EOS400) looking out over Winter Hill from the office window Yesterday morning, as the snow clouds roll in from saddleworth. Weather looked a bit peaky. Posted again cos I’m well chuffed with it 🙂

Grumm, you’ll love the full frame. What lenses have you got?

    grumm
    Free Member

    Canon 17-40 f4 L, 70-200 2.8 L, Sigma 50 1.4, and I’ve got a Tamron 28-75 2.8 on order as well 😀

Nice. The only ‘L’ I have is the 24-105, but I do have some lovely Olympus OM lenses I use – 18/3.5, 50/1.4, 200/4, and a Tamron 90/2.5 macro.

I’ve still not worked out what my next lens will be. Probably either a 70-200/4 or a Sigma 150-500. Whilst that olympus 200 is a lovely lens it’s so tricky to get things focussed properly.

Are those OM lenses manual focus? Quite enjoy manual focussing for some things but with a long lens it’s not great.

Really liking this 5D, apart from the bloody dust spots on the sensor! The 17-40L is insanely sharp.

My local Cash Converters has a Canon 1D MK2 in for £500, how I wish I had a spare £500.

Froze my balls off taking these two HDR’s today:

Generally don’t bother with HDR’s as they usually turn out crap anyway. Makes a change to have a couple actually work.

Yup, they are. No issue for the wide angle or macro because I’m usually fiddling about for ages anyway. The 50/1.4 can bit a bit of a pain to focus unless stopped down (although I do have a nifty fifty too), but the 200 is a lovely lens, it’s just impossible to focus it on anything that’s moving. I’m sure with a proper prism viewfinder like the OM1 it was designed for, this would be easier…

That’s a damn good pic rd, how the heck did you take it?
And yunki, that’s a chuffin’ great stone weighing some seven tons in Avebury, I’m sure it’s phallic appearance from that angle is not inappropriate. It’s a totally different shape from the side, however.

Cracking shot there Sharki. I really like that. I also like mangoridebike’s contributions.

Here are a couple I got tonight. I like them, but think they could be a lot better.

Some quick and dirty edits to try to emphasise the dark and gloomy nature of the weather. I should probably have spent much longer on them, but I’m quickly loosing patience with the idea that I’ll be a full year behind at this rate if I don’t hurry up with the processing!

Love the first two there zokes.

Grumm – the robin shot is excellent. The small flash of red really draws the eye.

Sharki – who asked you to stop taking photos in the pub?

Here’s one from sunny Kirkcaldy this afternoon.
