Kit – loving your portraits. Very dynamic.
This isn’t so much a picture I’m proud of (though I like the low key exposure) but it is something I am very excited about. I’ve borrowed this Hasselblad 501CM from a friend of mine. She’s a professional photographer but hasn’t used this in maybe eight years or so and is looking to move it on. I’ve been Medium Format curious for a while now. There is a certain look I’m chasing and I want to find out whether it has anything to do with the dynamic range that film, especially medium format film has compared to digital.
Polarisandy’s work has inspired me also (and Andy please chip in with any tips particularly around metering and exposure). I’ve been toying with the idea of just buying something cheap-ish and second hand, like a Fuji GW670 or Mamiya RZ67 and then just selling on if it didn’t work out but borrowing one of these is a perfect outcome.
This isn’t however just any old ‘blad 501CM and indeed the reason it’s special is that the last time it was used was September 22nd 2007, which also happens to be the day I got married.
This is indeed, the camera that our wedding photo’s were taken with. Special indeed.
