Not proud of this one, but I hope to be proud of what it snaps with it’s 12mb camera

Always fun getting a roll back from the big Fuji. The light was a bit harsh, so might have to revisit this spot.

    These are a bit better.

Not overly proud of these, but after cancelling the Bristol trip I decided to chill and went to one of my two favourite places on the planet.

If you don’t like Oxford’s Natural History and Pitt Rivers museums then I think you are dead inside. Or haven’t been.

The only hassle was finding that the Ashmolean (sensibly) won’t let you wear backpacks to avoid things being knocked over. I could carry the camera bag (just) but it was a pain.

I used to have paleontology tutorials there, so I’m not keen, myself 🙂

This one is from a formal portrait shoot of a friend of mine – a mass of apparent contradictions but one of the finest human beings I know.

I’ve had it since the start of the year or so; I ditched the RX1r for a Sony A7s last year but that developed a fault so I swapped it for the A7rII.

KiwiJohn can you say more – by ‘Big Fuji’ and roll I guess you mean a Fuji medium format film camera. I am ‘ MF’ curious and would love to know more.

@ geetee, it’s GSW690iii. Very simple camera with just aperture, speed & focus to play with.
I use a Sekonic 208 meter in the hotshoe for metering. Film was Kodak Portra 400.

@JOHNCLIMBER; That top shot is brilliant.

Nice soft light at 6 this morning on the beach as the sea mist slowly lifted (only to become cloudy by 9am). Did a bit of work and then played with my new fisheye and b&w mode on the camera.

The story attached to this image is fairly frank but it has been ‘published’ with permission from the subject.

Down in Weymouth last weekend I passed this black bike parked in the bright sunshine next to a white wall acting as a natural reflector.
I could have chosen to have the bike darker but I like the effect of the background burning out and the detail you can see. On the full size image the detailing is stunning. (I like bikes.)

Do you think so? Thank you for saying so. I wasn’t sure but I will happily take the accoldae. Probably I don’t deserve it having been such a **** on the ‘mobile phone’s killing compact cameras’ thread.

Yes, for me the best yet. The back story made the difference. Just ambient lighting? I’d think so from your text on Flickr.

My first attempt at an self taken action shot. 10s delay, run back to the bike, jump on and try and time it right … worked out quite well for once.
