A new starter recently came upstairs with scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast. That’s just showing off…..

    Is it?

Quite a few like me either cycle or run to work, so no chance of breakfast at home

not disagreeing, just genuinely interested why cycling or walking to work means you can’t have breakfast at home?

edit Percy that looks rough sorry 🙂

How can you complain about breakfast at work?

I’ve just made two poached eggs on toast and I’m sat at my desk eating them right now.

Second breakfast at work is ace.

I usually eat brekkie at 5am, by the time I’ve been for a run or swim then cycled to work I’m ready for part deux.

Kind of annoyed the OP isn’t in my office, I’d take great delight in knowing that my behaviour is irrationally getting on someone’s goat.

Just finished my 10am porridge too, nom.

I’ve banned eating at desks in my place. Its not healthy. If you want to eat go sit at one of the tables in the kitchen.

Not sure why so many people feel the need to eat at their desks.
Not that it would bother me, but it’s not like you’ve got a real job where you might actually expend some calories.

And you wouldn’t catch Bob Crow eating at his desk.
He’d probably be at the Ritz or Dorchester, champagne socialist freeloading scumbag.

Do they clean their teeth afterwards? I can’t stand having unclean teeth after breakfast! Stale milk on the breath

This. Breakfast with coffee at home and then shower and teeth (at the same time) before leaving for work.

Used to work with a lunatic lady who would go mad about people using company milk for breakfast. Said she would find out who it was and get them sacked. I spent hours and hours printing and cutting out pictures of the Nesquick bunny and placing them everywhere she might go. Making enemies of crazy people at work is something I miss. Everyone is nice at my current place 😥

I find it exceedingly annoying. Eat your damn breakfast at home!!!

Let me know where your desk is, I’ll come round and eat loudly at you. You can choose one of many feeding times. If you’re lucky, I might even do some of that lip smacking noise that gets on peoples tits, spill a bit of coffee on your desk and fart in your general direction.

On site cafe (porta cabin) is a daily ritual, only thing that upsets people is if you don’t ask if they want a bacon roll

We used to have ‘non work’ benches in our open plan office which worked quite well – so if you were eating breakfast or lunch you sat at the non-work bench cracked on and returned to your desk when done. It was very effective because it meant you were not trying to eat your breakfast and do work, meant you finished up your breakfast/lunch more quickly so got back to productive work more quickly and didn’t annoy your fellow workers munching into your snap crackle and pop while they’re trying to concentrate.

Unfortunately we got rid of them to make way for people being relocated from a condemned building, so we’re back to eating at our desks.

Do muslims have a problem with other people eating pork? I’ve never met any who object to this.

The vast majority are completely tolerant to other people’s eating habits and associated beliefs. Of course you will get the odd one that might want to kick up a fuss, much like the odd person in the office who objects to people eating breakfast in there, while everyone else just gets on with it.

Acceptable here though bacon butties might be a little “delicate” given my boss is a Muslim and sits next to me!

Have you asked him / her? My Muslim colleagues don’t care what other people eat.

Re: Muslim boss and others eating a bacon butty – Joke, taking the mick out of the no-eating thing maybe?

He’s not bothered really. We do tend to avoid eating in the office during Ramadan though he’s said he’s fine with that as well.

Yeah, best to avoid or minimise it just to be polite/nice, but I’ve never heard anyone complain.

My first and only breakfast is at work (there’s a lot that follows but I class those as snacks)

2 scrambled eggs done in a mug in the microwave with some black pepper, then big mug of muesli, and big mug of tea

Changing offices soon and no food at desk policy is being introduced. All part of ‘fresh working’, my ar5e its fresh

Is this a hygiene thing? I know I’d trust my desk to be cleaner than the tables in the shared areas or the site restaurant. I guess ‘hot desking’ may make things a bit more difficult.

bowl of weetabix at my desk every morning about 7am. happily use their milk too.. but then i dont have a million cups of tea during the day so its my fair share.

When people stop scheduling meetings before work, after work, and through lunchtime and expecting me to attend and work, then I’ll stop eating at my desk whenever I damn well feel like.

although there were discussions about the company not supplying milk for breakfasts, just for tea/coffee which although seemed reasonable to me died away after a lot of complaints

You’d need a lot of fridges for everyone’s single pint of half drunk milk.

I get breakfast at work cos if I eat too much before riding in I feel awful and might be a bit sick (And if I don’t eat I fall asleep by mid morning). I’d happily pay for whatever milk I use on cereal, and would have toast instead except they’ve decided we aren’t allowed toasters.

My last place had a canteen that served morning snacks as well as lunch, it was good. I’d be fine with that.

I cycle 20+ miles to work. If I have breakfast before the ride then I’m hungry at 9 anyway.
So I just wait until I get to work.

I can’t eat first thing in the morning, just don’t have the appetite. My cycle ride is only 10 miles so don’t need to have eaten to ride that. Then means I can eat at work when I’m genuinely starving

I leave home at 7am, cycle 15 miles to work. Don’t really feel like eating at 6.30am so grab some toast or porridge at work after my shower and eat it (edit: at my desk ) whilst I plan my day, pickup any emails etc.

I know a paramedic who spend loads of time online while on duty – there seems to be regular down-time between the action. He probly spends some of it eating too.

I’ve been doing it for years, it’s perfectly normal in the industry I work in and no, it’s not the breakfast cereal tasting industry either 😆

Same as many of the above, I have at least an hours drive to get to work, I start at 07:30, so I’m not getting up at 05:30 to have breakfast before work, I’d be hungry by 09:00 again anyway.
