    Hi,

seen this on the Edinburgh RC MTB group.
There is a plan to open an off road route from Roslin down to Peebles, I guess mainly following the disused railway that runs alongside the road.
I’ll be at the meeting unless I’ve got a job by then.

    Dear Sir or Madam,

Peebles to Roslin Off Road Cycle Route – Public Consultation Meeting,
27th January 2009 at 3.30pm, Penicuik Town Hall

Midlothian Council, Scottish Borders Council and Sustrans (the leading
sustainable transport charity) have initiated the development of an off
road cycle route between Peebles in the Scottish Borders and Roslin in
Midlothian. Transport consultants Faber Maunsell have been commissioned
to produce the report investigating options for the development of such
    a route.

We would like to invite you to a meeting on Tuesday 27th January to
discuss the current proposals. This will be held in the Lesser Hall of
Penicuik Town Hall (High Street, Penicuik) from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. There
will be a short presentation by the project team, following which you
will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide comments.

An off road cycle route between Peebles and Roslin would provide a safer
link between communities, as well as greater access to the countryside
generally, for pedestrians, cyclists and other non-motorised users. At
present the only available route is comprised of busy A-class roads.
The off-road route would benefit both local residents and visitors to
the area. It is hoped that disused railway lines could form the basis
for much of the route. It should be noted that the construction of the
cycle route would be dependent on the necessary permissions being
    obtained, and funding being secured.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, or if would prefer, you can
provide comments by post, e-mail or fax using the contact details below.

If you have any questions about the ongoing study or the meeting, please
    feel free to contact me.

    Yours sincerely,
