my folks are getting rid of some parquet flooring. I reckon it would be great to make a coffee table out of it. Unfortunately I am not always terribly handy. This is my current plan:

    – get a sheet of ply
    – arrange some parquet blocks thereon
    – ????
    – buy some legs and attach them
    – admire the finished table

I feel like the easiest way of tying it all together would be some kind of metal frame with an ‘L’ cross section that could both support the ply base and provide a sidewall for the parquet. Is that realistic? Could I get some local type to make one for me?

There’s quite a few on Etsy with a metal frame as you suggest but I quite like this style where it wraps around the edge. Loads of idea here, anyway: https://www.etsy.com/uk/market/parquet_table

ooh yeah thanks – this one is almost exactly what i had in mind.

But that one you’ve posted is lovely too.  Some good food for thought here 🙂
