conservatory replacement cost.

I have found a house I like, however I have one query before putting in an offer that maybe someone could offer some guidance on.

The house has an old single glazed conservatory that whilst functional is probably not in the best state of repair. I know the answer might be how long is a piece of string, but here goes.

It’s about 3×3 and half brick. wood frames single glazed and polycarbonate multl wall for the roof. To replace the roof and windows with boring UPVC items is likely to be how much????? Are we talking a few hundred,( I doubt it), a couple of thousand, tens of thousands?

Metres/feet? They have some stuff on check-a-trade. House I bought has a 4m*4m conservatory and the vendor said it cost 10k. As you would.

Anything built with single glazing isn’t going to have any insulation. Sounds like you would be much better taking it down and building something new with current levels of insulation. I know that is what I’d do. Timber framed and cladding, fully insulated, glazed and roof for less than £10,000 if you can DIY? That’s fully finished with electrics and anything else you fancy.

Insulation? It’s a conservatory, of course there’s no insulation, it’s a bastardporch only to be used for 3 optimal days around each equinox.

As long as its not falling down and not a main room I’d just count it as a nice vestibule.

I have what sounds like a very similar conservatory, had a few quotes in the last month.

For replacement of everything above the dwarf wall with white PVC and a polycarbonate lean too roof is about 10k (11k with a double door).

For timber effect PVC, with a solid Edwardian style roof was 20k including build regs and door etc.

This is in the Bristol area for reference.

Ultimately, decided we’d prefer the latter, both as the current room gets far too hot, and a solid roof would both enable the use of the room alot more and it would value to the house, moreso than replacing relatively like for like.

Now, saving up for that is going to take a fair while so just hoping the current conservatory doesn’t fall down in the meantime!

I should add, mine’s 4.5 x 3m, looking at a couple of the itemised quotes I think a 3v3m would knock £2-3k off the numbers above!

It’s quite versatile really, mine is where my indoor bike is. Summer open all of its windows and I get a nice breeze. Winter it’s cold enough to ride with just the outside door open.

We had a 3×2.5m conservatory on the back of our house. Full double glazing build with glass roof. It was too hot, too cold and attracted flies. I spent half my summer days catching flying inverts to release them.
In March I spent £5k dropping it, ripping up the concrete floor, laying a patio and installing bifold doors. The kitchen looks amazing because of it and the outdoor space is better used.
