any suggestions for an alternative to the tripster ? i want to swop out the road bike and cx bike for a single ‘tripster’ type bike.
so – disc brakes, light frame, good on the road with ‘comfort’ geometry, capable of taking panniers for light touring, and capable of changing to 30mm cx tyres for adventure races
just interested in alternatives, either titanium or carbon
i really like the tripster, however don’t really need the 40mm clearance of the tripster, but some of the competitors (enigma i think) has only 28mm clearance
    any thoughts ?

Careful. The Tripsternistas will scratch your eyes out.

    What about a Specialized Diverge[/url]?

    I daren’t venture in to the thread….

I do, however, have a bike that fits your needs. If I mention it, though, Jamie will say something mean and nasty! 😉

Or the ‘WTF does ‘swop out’ mean’ gang. Swap over maybe, not swop out. 😆

Its 12mm difference.. 6mm on either side… bigger clearance and more tyre options. Whats not to like? Careful how you answer as the rest of the tripies will be along shortly with blunt spoons at the ready…

    What’s going on here? 🙂

I was just looking on the Kinesis website for the photos of the Tripster atop Ventoux with, what I think were 25mm Contis on it. Mine ran for a long while with 25 or 28mm (road) tyres. I’m currently thoroughly enjoying 32mm Schwalbe Duranos that are quick and stable – even in the crap conditions at the moment.

It’s a fast, willing, road bike. Don’t knock it for the fact it can run tractor tyres – you’d be missing out on an absolute treat. There are lots more people doing much more offroad than I’ve ventured, but knowing I can stick some 40mm knobblies on it gives me n+1 without cluttering up the garage. When I bought my first (alloy) Tripster, I sold my hardtail within a few weeks… When I bought the ATR, I sold the carbon road bike within a few weeks…

Old pic, but pretty sure those are 25mm, or at worst 28mm tyres:

    Or knobblied-up:

Or something in between for a bit of road/gravel touring:

Don’t discount the 40mm (+) clearance – I ran my tripster with 33c maxxis raze but it really felt ‘right’ with the 40c wtb nano races, which are more stable, better in the mud, and I think roll faster as well.

I haven’t read the OP, but I agree… You should get a tripster, ask what mudguards will fit it, whether spyres beat bb7s, and then immediately upgrade the bars to flared ones..

That’s what you were asking wasn’t it?
