    Freeview 41.

Now this is actually a damned good Nicholas Cage film, based on a true story.

    7.6 on IMDb.

Basically how 2 brothers got into the arms trade just from selling one gun initially. Does a damned good job of illuminating what is a very murky business right down from nation states down to African dictators.

Definitely recommended even if you dont like Cage.

Love this film. The opening scene showing the lifespan of a bullet is incredible.

I’ve always thought that but wasn’t sure if it was just me!

Yeah, that scene sets up the rest of the film really well, it doesn’t preach but it sure as hell doesn’t hold back from the realities either.

For entirely different reasons I also like the part where a whole plane and it’s cargo is basically “eaten”… much to the annoyance of the INTERPOL agent.

The story had a massive parallel with real life.

It was cheaper to buy real weapons from arms dealers than to buy props, “We also got some tanks, and the guy said, ‘I need them back by December because I’m selling them to Libya’.” (The New Zealand Herald 13/09/2005)

If you liked Lord of War, I highly recommend War Dogs.

Very similar story but really entertaining

It was on Netflix for a while too, I kept meaning to go back and rewatch it but think it may have gone. I love the soundtrack as well, but sadly I don’t think it was ever a standalone release.

Wasn’t it based on Viktor Bout who, IIRC, was released back to Russia in a prisoner swap in the last year or so?

    A PSA to the PSA:

Check out Nic Cage Against the Machine.

Possibly the best Nic Cage impersonator fronted Rage Against The Machine tribute act you’ll ever see live.

    Are there any bad ones?
