I’ve just recently bought my first motorbike (for the roads) – a CCM Maverick. I know it’s probably not everyone’s taste but I just love it.
Bloody hell, 10 large for a 55bhp thumper! You’re bang on it’s not to everyone’s taste! 😂
Where in the East Midlands are you…? Was going to suggest some far afield rides for you, but on that thing you’d be travelling there with it in the back of a van unfortunately… Or you’d do one trip then sell it immediately and get something a bit more suited to going places! 🤭
This was my favourite route I did last year… https://www.adventurebikerider.com/discovering-yorkshire-dales/
Did it with golfchick from this forum and her fella. Underestimated just how tiring 200 miles of mostly singletrack roads would be! 😂 Bloody awesome route though… I was a little overbiked on my 1290 Superduke, but was fun all the same…
I also really enjoyed exploring round the Forest of Bowland on the way up to the Yorkshire Dales (I came down and stayed in Morecambe for the night, the road down from Quernmore to Lancaster was ace, but the whole of the Forest of Bowland is a time warp, barely any vehicles, fun singletrack roads all over the place… Go!
I love Wales, and luckily enough live just on the doorstep to get there… Lots of awesome routes, but my favourite is probably head to Builth Wells and then do the Devils Staircase to Tregaron, north to Devils Bridge and then into the Elan Valley and on to Rhayader. Superb fun! Lots of fun to be had in and around the Forest of Dean too, especially heading down to Chepstow, then inland to Abergavveny… Or head to north Wales, get off the main routes, find some epic back roads up in Snowdonia and have a blast!
