This model was discussed a short while ago. IIRC the consensus is that its not very good. If you could spend the extra cash the HP Compaq Mininote from Ebuyer is very good value for £190.

The Samsung NC10 is the best of the netbooks at the mo, but you would be looking at £300.

it specifically says no external hard-drives – would that rule out connecting an Ipod (data transfer mode not itunes). Could a broadband dongle be used out and about?

It will run a flavour of linux. With a bit of hacking around, you could probably get it to talk to the ipod and run a broadband dongle, but it may be a bit of a faff.

EDIT – there is a link to a 3G dongle driver on the site, so that should be OK.
The problem you will have with the ipod is capacity. Its only got a 2gig drive and it looks as though you can only use up to a 4gig usb or memory card.

So – email and web browsing good
Photos – mmmm maybe OK, but severe capacity limitation issues
    iPod – forget it.

Get the HP from Ebuyer instead its a bargain – and you could always bung a hooky copy of XP on it – if you knew who to asked for a copy 😉
