I’ve got this lovely old rack full of painted metal bins from the 60’s. (Nearly 100 of them)

Some of the bins are starting to go rusty, any ideas to stop it getting worse? I’ve read that strangely, WD40 could make it worse.   Dip them all in a container of rust converter?

There is allsorts in the rack so don’t really want anything that’s going to leave a residue.

Take your pick from bilthambers range. I’ve used hydrate80 to good effect on small bits of rust on a classic car, you’ve got a lot to do so maybe a bath solution would work. Looks like a lot of work to do 100 of them though – are you planning on painting them?

Thanks.  Wasn’t planning on painting, I would be quite painstaking to be honest.  I just don’t want to find that in 5 years time that the rust is taking over and starting to destroy everything in them! To be honest the garage is fairly damp in the winter so perhaps I should sort out linear drains around it and see how it does once it drys out a bit more
