My 11 yr old nephew has today gotten his new Haro jump bike for Xmas which came with DJ 3 forks.

He weighs a giant 5.5st and the forks are a tad stiff to say the least (i can't get them to full travel at 16st so he effectively has very heavy rigid forks).

A quick look on CRC doesn't show any spare springs for the Dirtjumpers, only for the more expensive forks so can it be done to their budget forks so he might actually get some travel? Cheers.

Aren't they air-assisted? Maybe you could whip the coils off and just pump them up?

Try checking out the spares section on Windwave's website. If they don't import anything then you won't be finding them anywhere, no matter how much time you spend looking.

These DJ4s were spot on for me running springs (elastomers) in just one side, but as above, if they are coil one side and air assist the other, just run them without air preload. Papadirt's Dirt Jam Pros are fine for me with no air added.

A lot of these are mix and match – I put DJ2 air caps on my DJ1s for example – ring windwave and ask them but I bet you can use air caps from another model on them – remove one or both springs and use air preload

Edit – dropping oil levels will stop yhem ramping up so quick as well

Sorry for the hijack – TJ, do you think that would work with my Drop Offs. Only getting about 80% travel with zero preload on them. They are OEM zocchi fork and I cannot get additionals springs. ( Tried but the lengths were different)

I may remove one spring and add preload
Remove both springs and add loads of preload
Do nothing ( or first option ) and reduce the oil levels slightly.

    Cheers.

PS I do not want to die 🙄
