As a child of the 60s/70s I had never been more than 100 miles from the place I was born til I was 14.
That meant that going to the beach was Brighton or Hastings. So on seeing Saunton Sands in Devon I was blown away. I had no idea that we had such wonderful places in this country. It’s still one of my favourite places in the world.
I must get to some of those amazing Scottish beaches soon.
What’s the easiest one to get to?
If you’re heading up north from down south, I’d imagine the beaches on the Solway Firth, at places like Kippford?

If you fancy a bit of a mission, I recommend seeking out Kilbride Bay in Argyll.
