Not sure if the pic will work. Taken me over a year but just finished the cheapy trout lights for me and my brother. For those that care, I used a 3 pole switch with a 47ohm resistor on one side to allow a low beam. My light has the mount to one side to allow it to sit over the stem and the other one has it in the middle due to the design of the clamp I used.
The drivers were from LedSupply in the states http://www.ledsupply.com/03023-d-e-1000.php
Goinh for a ride with my bro at the weekend so will report back how I get on. Depending on how the beam is Ill either build a smaller lid light or use this on my head and build a larger bar light.

I realise its taken me a while and you lot are probably way ahead of me but I wanted to share this anyway.

how did you make the battery packs up? I can only find PP3 connectors with very thin wire – have you found a solution that works OK?

As you can see from the pic I used a 8xAA holder. In the pic I used disposables but we have a load of maplin own hybrid rechargables. Makes 9.6v which should be enough even when running low to keep it over the direct drive area.

Your right though the only way is using PP3 connectors. I have modded the one in the pic and added fatter wires. The other Light is still on the skinnys. Ill monitor the heat etc. but It seems to work ok.

I want to try building a really tiny light so might use these packd for that and upgrade to a smudge pack for bar duties.

So we went for a ride tonight. Was still light when we left but proper dark by the time we got home.

The lights are great. If I didn’t know there were bigger better leds out there id be really happy. As there are better leds, I think I’ll be using this on my head and building something with 2 triples for the bar. Definately need more flood.
