    Crazy daily distances.

Read that the guy who currently holds the cycling record of 37 days…..then decided to run it and now holds the record for that too !!

And he finished it this morning (UK time), knocking nearly a week off the old record!

I’ve been half following it, especially as he got towards the end cos I’ve ridden the Wollongong up to / through Sydney and up to Newcastle bit. A friend in Sydney posted some pics to a group chat of Morton riding up the Pacific Highway with a big group of dotwatcher and supporter folk who’d gone out to meet him. Rapha and EF put on a coffee stop in Sydney for him and supporters.

The daily distance thing is staggering. 420km average a day for 30 days straight – OK I know he had support, didn’t need to think about where to camp or buying and cooking food but the mental strength to just ride all day, every day is incredible.

So much night riding and on dead straight roads….mental toughness for that .

It must be like sort of being on a turbo boring for hours and hours .

    An amazing achievement.

Amazing ride. I’ve been following it. Some of the long rural straight sections through  the desert/outback looked brutal. He nearly got wiped out by one of those mega lorries. Said he had to come off the road when they were approaching after that as the truckers wouldn’t move over at all for a bike.

So he road further per day than Mark Beaumont on his supported round the world. His target was 240 miles per day which is i think 380km ish

Huge respect for this new record
