    WTF?

Where on earth did that come from?

The BBC got exactly what it wanted from it’s let’s dumb down everything policy AND in JBs first answer. Makes you wonder if the whole thing wasn’t scripted.

Really poor show last night other than the twitter response data which is no doubt off the scale! The production team will be pleased.

He was invited on because he’s controlversial. Hard to imagine that it wasn’t scripted and the panellists are given the questions in advance. With Piers Morgan on too that must be the most obnoxious QT panel ever.

What was said by the ever enlightening genius?

Saw it last night, couldn’t help but cringe. Don’t understand why he was invited on it, has he ever had a relevant comment on any subject?

He referred to voting Ukip as worse than 4 ugly girls!

I tuned in, saw Barton, Morgan and a Ukipper and decided going to bed would be a better option.

Was worse than that iirc, need to find a link to it.
Did he not suggest that voting ukip was like picking the least to ugly of 4 ugly girls. Was the way he turned a seemed to look pointedly at the ukip lady when he said the last bit.
Maybe I’m remembering wrong, was too busy cringing!

So letting UKIP off lightly then….

“So if I am somewhere and there were four really ugly girls I’m thinking ‘well, she’s not the worst’, because that is all you are, that is all you are to us.”

Oh dear, am I wrong to agree with him?

No you’re not. Can’t quite see what the outrage is all about, he could have worded it better, and apologised when he was pulled up about his metaphor.

Actually not a bad metaphor. They’re both happy with the attention.

I did have to Google “Joey Barton” though.

Just to be clear, I didn’t go for the “ugliest girl”; I left the club and looked in a nice wine bar.

Footballer Joey Barton has apologised after describing UKIP as the best of “four really ugly girls”.

Does this mean Joey Barton is gay? And partially sighted?

What worried me most was that piers morgan and joey barton had the moral high ground over a former PM of our country 😯
    How fr we have fallen.

Not the worst metaphor you will ever hear and he did apologise for it
It depends do you want media savvy politicians answers or someone who says stuff like that?
If you pillory him for this then dont moan why you get “proper politicians” and their sterile answers.

Personally i dont think it is a great choice of words but I know what he meant and it is not massively offensive IMHO

Maybe it’s because he said it to a woman and people don’t really understand metaphors?

I’d rather QT allocate their guest wild card to a social commentator who’s a little more savvy about matters than the likes of Joey. Next week it will be the musings of some TOWIE extra.

I thought what he said was fairly tame.

I really don’t think what he said was that bad, it was a hypothetical metaphor not aimed at anyone personally

Richard Scudamore is on next week! 😉

Poor choice of metaphor but a valid comment other than that.

I can’t see why the BBC had him on, he’s a viscous little thug and in any other profession he wouldn’t be employable never mind have his opinion sought out.

I guess QT is following the way of the newspapers and going for ‘clickbait’ controversy over analysis that adds value

I don’t know if he’s the fastest runner, but that seems a bit unfair

My opinion: The irony is, his choice of language can be excused as it was indeed intended as a harmless metaphor, but his choice of language is very basic and he struggles to compile and finish his sentences with conviction. Why was he on this show?

He and piers have history on twitter which is why both were on the programme. It was a daft comment, he was probably nervous and said the first thing that came to him. Shame, the rest of the programme he was no worse or better than 99% of the more savvy political elite/commentators/establishment/usual suspect mouthpieces that get invited on

I’ve not seen the clip yet but the metaphor, whats wrong with it? If he said that hats off to him.

whats wrong with saying the least ugliest of 4 ugly women? Are we trying to be too sensitive to everyone now?!

Are you really claiming that noone who has ever committed a violent act ever gets employment anywhere – SHould i value your opinion now above his?
FWIW he did a fairly eloquent interview on 5 live where he explained why he reacted like that when he was younger and explained how he learnt to deal with it. IMHO it was really rather informative. It was almost as if his own personal experience gave him an insight that was worth listening to. Who would have thunk it

I am not his greatest fan mind

I honestly can’t see what the fuss is about. Some people must lead very sheltered lives to be offended by Barton’s metaphor – or alternatively they must actively look for things to offended by. Hmmmm.
I think I’m more ‘offended’ that UKIP have managed to get yet more publicity 😮

Exactly. Its almost a race to handwring over anything and pander to redtops sensationalism.

If I was the UKIP lady I think I’d have answered ‘I dont know whether to thank you for the compliment or slap you’ as a quip back. Blatantly it wasn’t a quip at HER, but an metaphor about the parties.

OK the next procurement meeting I’m in I’ll table it as a way of comparing suppliers –
    HIghest price – Bella Emberg
Middle price – Bianca from Eastenders
    Lowest Price – Carol Vorderman

People seem to be getting upset about this, but they didn’t worry when joey Barton stubbed a cigar out on a junior players eye….
Seriously, why is the BBC giving exposure to a violent thug.
