Not bad at all, that. Lose the rim decals and sort out the saddle and it will look as good as this one

TBH apart from the broken nose saddle design it looks fine & I cant stand the shoved forward saddle on yours 😉

Most bikes for big people look terrible with the saddle so tall compared to the wheelbase and the frame so big compared to the wheels

Again I don’t agree as I think small frames look silly with 26″ and above wheels on?
I might be biased as Ton & I are age & body doubles 😆

What size frame did you go for ton? Cheers.

Enjoy the chronicles whilst it’s dry, you’ll need something with more tread on the front when we get normal weather back

Chronicles are fine in the wet. They’re ace compared to knards.

    I do like these….

The world is an odd place when NSMB is reviewing them for the North Shore[/url].

I dunno what “wet” you get by you but here in the saturated loam & clay they are useless

Really nice bike fella…..I love the look too. As much as I enjoyed that review up the page a bit, it does annoy me how every bike journo seems to think that every bike needs to be tested on gnarly, jumpy stuff…..perhaps, just maybe, there are people who love to ride bikes and not think about ‘doubling’ jumps?

I only do XC, and if I hit a jump or ‘berm’, it will be an accident…….literally, probably! Oh, and just because it has zero inch suspension, does not mean you are going to die if you hit a root……your magnificent machine may go some way to rediscovering old, neglected skills……like riding a bike across things, without constantly analysing it!

    Love it!

In fairness to that particular review, NSMB is not the site you would visit if you’re trying to avoid the gnarly, jumpy stuff. This may be more your cup of tea..

Jones Plus Review: A Bike Like No Other

Perhaps I should have started a new thread, but my point still stands…..I enjoyed the review, it was well written and thoughtful, that’s not what bugs me. It’s the fact that even if a bike (not just the Jones Plus) is advertised/marketed as an XC rig, most journalists still insist on ragging it around a trail centre and then criticising it’s handling skills…..not this review, so it’s a non point. I’ve just woken up grumpy.

read the nsmb review prior to buying. just another journo’s thoughts. talked to a bloke who owns one, his input had more to do with me buying.

You have eclectic tastes ton judging by your recent buying history – you must do more different types of riding than most on here to accommodate such a diverse range of bikes.

Enjoy the new one – beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!

Which of the two sizes is that Tony?

I would bet a fair bit on it being the 25 inch. The headtube is fairly, errrm, distinctive.

    it is the 25” version.

NSMB isn’t really that audience, though. And Jeff Jones reckons the plus bike is for “all types” of mountain biking – certainly the video he released of it was very much more trail/AM riding than bikepaking or XC.

Think it’s a testament to the bike that a site who normally review only Enduro & DH bikes chose to review a rigid bike, and liked it.

Nice – I’d really like to try the new geo on the plus.

Mole – do it!! My Spaceframe has been my only bike for nearly 7 years. My only n+1 itch is for another Jones, the plus Spaceframe 😉

just pricing up a 2nd set of wheels with slicks, for touring. I could see it being my only bike in the near future.

I think I must be missing something here. A quick scan through the posts above would put me in a minority in thinking it’s hideous?

Possibly a bit too niche for my mainstream tastes, although I did have PRST1 back in the day!

    hideous?

Did I say hideous, apologies I meant to say, erm…ocularly distressing.

Looks great. Never thought I’d say that about a Jones. But for technical riding (I’ve seen and read that you can….) those bars are not for me, for pootling and touring they look great (esp with a Revelate Jones centre bag)

Ton – you might want to try rotating the Loop bars down a bit more – the angle can have a big difference on comfort and cornering.

    Very nice Ton.

Presuming that Velocity Dually rims were an option you were wise to go for Hugo rims; the Duallys are difficult to set up tubeless (with Dirt Wizards) but Stans are usually a doddle.

Surly Dirt Wizard tyres are pretty good in normal (non-dry) UK conditions.

    Enjoy!

genuinely interested in seeing how people run the Jones bars..

As a new convert, any advice on set up would be appreciated.

Or is it just the old check and test, check and test method.. taking an alan key on yer ride and trying as you go?

been told by various people over the time I have used jones bars, to tilt em down. I have tried, I don’t like em tilted. my wrists don’t do tilted.
this is the best position for me.
