    Soo…What a great weekend!
I’m now bruised from a few crashes, aching from 1400m climbing eash day, but had a fantastic time: great mates, great riding, lovely chilled lodge.. an awesome weekend!

We rode some trails in Staunton on the Saturday- super techy rocks and roots and chutes etc etc…

Then on Sunday we drove an hour into wales for a classic ‘Black Mountain loop’.. Much more ‘back country, nothing around for miles’ type stuff.. both vastly different days, but great fun!

    Saturday

    Sunday

Strava profiles say that over both days it was nearly 9000ft of climbing in just under 55 miles… Ooof!

Funny, we didn’t actually ride any of the FOD waymarked trails!! Not enough time!!

Saw you’d done the Black Mountain Loop, proper old school MTB that. Not sure I’d have driven from FoD for it but certainly a contrast.

But maybe answer your own question now you’ve been

IS the forest of Dean ‘worth it’ for a weekend riding trip?

Is it a big fat yes?

Where’s that suspension/cable bridge? – Its down at the Biblins between Monmouth – Symnods Yat. There’s MTB tracks on both sides of the river.
