Happily – when they’ve just done it to us.

So we have been attacked and a couple of nuclear weapons have wiped out the UK. You suggest we then retaliate (even though all UK people are dead/dying) and kill millions more innocent people. How does that help, what do you gain from doing that?

(Remember, you are not killing the nutter who sent the bombs our way, you are killing innocent people who had nothing to do with it other than live in the country of the nutter.)

Don’t be daft, we’re dealing with schoolyard machismo played out with nuclear bombs. You really think he gives a shit about the lives of millions of innocent foreigners?

Nope. He’s a Brexy. Foreigners aren’t real people to him.

Your mathematics and understanding of the effects of Nuclear weapons are woefully inadequate to the point of childishness.

A couple of nuclear weapons exploding, even in large cities would be devestating, terrible, horrific – but they most certianly would not result in “all UK people are dead/dying”

Huge amounts of work was done on this in the Cold War – exercises like Hard Rock and Square Leg, which was predicated on a 200 MT, 130 odd warhead exchange hitting the UK, and even that got nowhere near your “all UK people are dead/dying”

Maybe go away and learn something about it before spouting the type of alarmist, naive crap that you get from Momentum websites.

To be honest, in terms of the wars you might conceivably use nukes in, the world is very peaceful at present. Now I agree that Brexit makes such wars slightly more rather than slightly less likely, but the EU is looking pretty strong without us (possibly stronger) so no worries just yet.

Asking Corbyn whether he’s going to use nukes is therefore ultimately irrelevant.

He didn’t say that, he said ‘wiped out the UK’. Two multiple warhead bombs detonated over London and Manchester would not only kill and injure millions, but would displace millions more thanks to the fallout and cause mass riots, panic and chaos. The economic effects would destroy the UK as a nation for a very long time, so the phrase ‘wiped out the UK’ is not as far fetched as you claim. Or presumably you think we’d just have a vigil and fund-raising pop concert and carry on as before?

If you want to wipe out a country attacking population centres shows a real lack of imagination.

I reckon about a dozen large well placed conventional bombs would go a long way to wiping out the UK.

Half a dozen nukes (probably less) would guarantee it and have the survivors welcoming in the invaders as saviours.

He didn’t say that, he said

He bloody did – go back and read it again.

    Two multiple warhead bombs

Couldn’t GAS. The fact is that two bombs would be enough to destroy the UK as a functioning nation.

    Make your mind up

Pretty much all modern strategic ICBMs are multi-warhead devices. If you’re going to be an armchair general then you should follow your advice and do some research before spouting bollox on the internet.

If we’re talking ICBM’s dropping multiple warheads from MIRV’s then it’s not ‘two bombs’ is it? It’s six, ten, twenty, or more.

Which is why I said make your mind up

Not much of an election thread this, is it?

On the contrary, this silly discussion nicely illustrates the ridiculousness of attacking Corbyn over his stance on using nuclear weapons and using it as a reason to not vote for him. It also highlights that people who use this line of attack and seek to diminish the horror and gravity of nuclear weapons are in no way fit to govern.

Yep, after all, it made absolutely no difference to the electorates opinion of agent boot of the KGB did it?

People are finally waking up to the fact that they’ve been had.
Younger people are registering in unprecedented numbers.

Too little too late, but even if that’s all we can take from this unholy mess at least it’s a start.

As soon as the BBC calls the result at 10pm on Thursday June 8th or – waiting until the outcome is absolutely definitive – I hope the mods then close this thread and the Corbyn one.

So many people could then become so much more productive – unless they find another subject over which they can obsess 😆

unless they find another subject over which they can obsess

But there will be the ‘we demand the government hold another election’ petition, the legal challenge to the outcome of the election, the ‘hold another election with Jezza as the only candidate’ protest march, the ‘I am the __%’ badges and T-shirts

The fun will only just be beginning

    Agree with your ‘but……’

Something will begin but it won’t be fun.

Phew that’s OK then – I was worried for a minute that a nuclear attack might be a bit serious. Can I just check, how many million people are likely to be killed by a couple of bombs? Just trying to work out if I should be at all bothered.

Lefties (by ninfan’s definition) always: wow, I hadn’t realised I was a leftie

Ninfan – I didn’t really want this election, but it has been a lot of fun really, particularly watching the Zombie Mayggot (sorry Chewkw it’s too good not to use) floundering and bumbling.
If her question was who should we have lead the Brexit talks, then her campaign has made it clear – not her, she’s useless.
Now would I like another election in another 6 weeks? Oh go on, though if I split my sides laughing at the chocolates teapots the Tories keep sending out, I’m sending you the medical bill (private naturally).
It really has been so much fun.

Edit: I’m a lefty if it helps – but one that will get caught by Labour’s tax pledges. So ninfan as a moaner you can assume I lose both was, I’ll assume I win both ways.

Chewkw will be along in a minute talking about over acting in his amateur dramatics club.

Does that mean I can start using that term again without million of people complaining to the mods when I use the term? You know perfectly well I loveeeee using that term in various forms.

I am contemplating whether to start using it again but … 😆

Enough of the bitching. We are all hopefully reasonably intelligent. The most important task we all have ahead of us in the next few days is to carefully consider the aims of the politicl parties and then decide how we are going to vote in order to kick out the tories.
