What’s free and can copy tunes and videos from my touch to itunes?

Had a hard drive issue meaning a fresh reinstall of everything.

ifunbox is usable and free. Only works if the settings on you iPod are set to “enable use as harddrive”.
It allows you to copy all the files from your iPod onto your harddrive.

Having had a similar issue some time ago I tried a free piece of ‘ware to copy all the music back off my iPod, but the problem with all the freeware I looked at and tried is I could only copy a certain number of tracks at a time and it kept copying tracks already copied. The best option is to buy a good application and look at it as insurance, in case something similar happens again. I can’t remember which one I bought, I’d have to get my laptop out and boot it up to find it, but it cost around $25, IIRC.

There is a few free utilities out there.
Just google copy ipod to itunes.

I dont have any experience in actually using them. The most useful article might be this which is a do it yourself. The most important bit is to make sure any ipod device does not sync.

Is the link. It worked for my iPhone when I got a new laptop.

Done it,bought and used copytrans last time which moved all my playlists, but cut approx 33% of my songs short.Use sharepod and re-do your playlists,it’s what I did in the end.I have used s/pod a number of times.
