Whats the difference? I am looking to buy one for my son and have noticed a 4gb 2nd generation for sale which may well suit him perfectly. I am just not sure if I should pay extra for a 3rd generation one.

    Any help appreciated.

3G (and 4G) can play video and hence have higher quality and biggger displays than the 2G. I have a 2G one and it freezes a lot (as most iPods do). I don’t know if reliability has been improved in the 3G.

Thanks, I thought they could both play video, thats the 2G out then as he wants to play video. 🙁

As an owner of Ipods, from a 1st gen 10g back in 2001 to my current 160g classic and 8g ipod 3rd gen nano, i have to say that statement, in my experience, is false.

I’m with Jamie, none of the 3 Ipods in our family have ever frozen.
