Nice one! Just had approval from the long haired general to attend the TT some time in the next couple of years – think she was getting fed up of the nightly highlights show 🙂 “It’s just a video of a road”.

The TT is on my bucket list and I would certainly want to take the MTB

Just love this shot – says it all for me really – insane power, incredible control inches from kerb, iron fence and trees but it’s all OK because one of the trees has a foam pad on it.

How am I going to wait until 10.15pm to watch the Senior without spoilers? Last night I watched the supersport on ITV hub which helpfully f*@+&%g told me who had won it when I clicked on it to load.

Got back last night. Got the 6am ferry over on Mad sunday morning, pitched tent at union mills FC campsite and went out for a ride. Took in the three plantations ( stony mountain, South Barulle and another one) and got a good fast descent on a rocky bridleway into Peel for Peel day) then back on the heritage trail ( railway line). A good hard ride on a singlespeed!!. Thanks to the group of local MTB riders who let me tag onto their group!

Monday, rode from my campsite upto Keppel Gate via bridleways ( and footpaths) where i had a great view of supersport 1 and superstocks ( and also the subaru lap – which was very fast!) Good descent back to the campsite afterwards.

Wednesday, went to Gorse Lea and watched from Harolds garden. Plenty of home made cakes and Tea whilst watching supersport 2. Harold is a legend and all money goes to charity. Jamie Hamilton was watching there as well – almost one year on after his crash in the 2015 senior, he still has no memory that he was a bike racer!! Headed back to Douglas on the heritage trail to catch the Zero and Lightweight on Glencrutchery road.

All in all, a good trip, good weather , plenty of SS riding and great racing. I suppose the only downside to the racing is Hutchinsons dominance. I like hutchy and glad he is doing well, but he is so quick over the first and second laps that the race is over and only 3rd place is up for grabs. I heard James Hillier taking to his mechanic about how he is racing for scraps and doesn’t know how he can go faster. Its nice when fractions of seconds split the riders right upto the finish.

And as a bonus, i found the Hooded Ram brewery on the way back to the ferry for a swift one before heading home.

Ternrat – sounds great. May have to emulate next year. Did you lock your bike when watching?

Sounds like you had a great time teenrat.
Watching from the wall at Harold’s farm is incredible, you can’t get that close up the action with many other sports!
The atmosphere there is usually incredible as well.

That first photo I put up was from Harold’s Farm. It’s well worth taking the pushbike & using the old Railway Line to get to various points along that part of the track. We locked our bikes just for peace of mind.Nothing got touched & they were left outside the tents at night.

I locked the bike to the goalposts overnight but didnt bother locking it at Harolds or Keppel Gate. However, whenever i was in Douglas, i locked it to fences in Nobles Park or in the Paddock.

I definately recommend taking a pushbike over as it gives you the freedom to get around and you can book the ferry as a foot passenger as steam packet don’t charge for pushbikes.

Theres also some great mtb’ing for the non race days!!

Bustaspoke – we may have crossed paths!
