Invisiframe alternatives

Hi,

What else is out there that does the same as Invisiframe?

The size for my bike is currently unavailable and at 75 quid I suspect I could get the same for less (but may require some more effort on my part).

You could buy a roll of 3M helicopter tape (3M™ 8671 HS) for a few quid and make your own. Won’t look as nice or invisable, but does the same job.

AMS make generic frame guard kit for about £25 that’s ‘okay’ I bought one for my Bird. It doesn’t go around bends very well, but does the job.

Get some 3m coptor tape of ebay, for the bits you want to be invisible. Most of the bike really doesn’t need to be covered, only the downtube for me.

Some mastic tape for the lower downtube and potential chain frame interface points, although a lot of bikes have moulded cover at those points now anyway.

The only issue I had with cutting my own was getting a decent radius on corners – the tape is much less likely to lift if the corners are radiused rather than right angled.

Really thick stuff that does go on well, pretty much “invisible”. The large kit includes two decent, wide strips that can be cut to suit should they need to be. I curved all the corners and I’m quite chuffed with the finish. I also bought half a metre of 25mm wide 3m protection tape to top up the outside of chain, seat stays etc. Pretty much covers all the vulnerable bits.

I have an invisiframe on my bike which is a lot more complete coverage though.

I’ve got some Madison m:part tape. It is quite thick and rubbery. I’ve only used it in rub locations and it has not come unstuck or turned yellowish.

Pro tip: use a small coin like a 5p in the corner and use it to cut around with scissors to get a nice consistent radius.

I did a really bad job of covering my orange in helitape, but in my defence the scalloped bits are very awkward.

It’s protected the paintwork OK though.

I use clear Gorilla tape, cheap and tough. Can look crap if you get too close, but when I’m that close to my bike I tend to be riding it

What width x length of 3M tape do you need for a full FS bike?
Assuming 10cm x 200cm ?

I thought if Invisiframe don’t do your bike or size, they offer to do it for free if you send your bike to them.  They then use your bike to cut the template in order to sell the kit.  Have you contacted them?

You still pay for it, though I think the fitting is free.

I can confirm what Tom said – you’re still paying for either the fitting or the kit (they’re roughly the same). It’s 80 quid for the bike I’m handing them at the end of the week.

This looks to be decent value for a smaller amount of 3M tape here.

Cheaper than the Demon Tweeks stuff recommended in a different thread (that I just received).

Invisiframe is made from 3M Ventureshield tape, which you can get hold of separately if you want to make a kit yourself. I did this for my Norco on the basis of couldn’t be arsed to send him my frame. Took ages but was quite enjoyable, still going strong 5 years later.

I emailed and asked for 2 genius tuned kits plus 2 sets of extra thick downtube and BB shell part kits. They obviously had to run this through the vinyl cutter and managed to get it cut and out to me in Canada in under a week incl postage.

Not in stock?? They just cut it there and then don’t they? They replaced the front triangle specifically on my frame and I ordered a rear replacement set from them. Not something they would keep in stock. Had it 2 days later. Just email them or shoot them a message on Instagram you will almost certainly have the kit by the weekend.
