In the alcohol point, a simple “not for me, thank you. I’m driving a little later” works wonders.

A polite way of declining a drink and shows you as a responsible person. Even if it’s a lie and you go and get utterly lampshaded straight afterwards.

(Any word can mean drunk in the right context)

Fine, go ahead then. Look him up and let him know that you are doing so.

Is it not easy enough to create a fake linkedin account if you really wanted to cover your tracks. Create a new email address, set up an account, simple enough surely.

Re LinkedIn profile, if I was hiring and the candidate HADN’T looked me up, I’d say that was a concern.

I looked up both my manager to be and also the ops manager who was part of the second interview process and mentioned that in my interview , the director isn’t on LinkedIn as I had already looked prior to my second interview as his details were in the companies annual summary.

I’ve read the summary and got some questions lined up around their key objectives for 2017, it’s tomorrow afternoon so hopefully will find out early next week and I will update this with the outcome.

Thanks again for your comments and advice.

Yeah, I had a second interview recently with an organisation’s CEO and both of us looked at each other’s LinkedIn.

What I should have done is looked up the other guy interviewing who was on their board cos it turns out I’d worked for him as part of his paid job and he was on the panel for the first interview. I’m absolutely shit at recognising faces so hadn’t realised it was him even though I’d met him quite a few times.

Just thought I’d update the post and confirm I got the job.

It’s a great job and can’t wait to start, my kids are even more excited as my package includes a free holiday, free day passes and a discount for friends and family.

Cheers for the advice everyone it did help!

    Congrats yamyam but

I don’t update linked in, because it’s a bit of a security concern. Our company policy is to be active on it, but certain other departments have asked us not to. Brilliant for work-related snooping and also general identity fraud.
